The two that top my list are hunters that you take to your spots & they go back bringing other hunters & the ones that think they have to take every hog out. Granted, I know there are spots where the landowner wants them gone or dead with no exceptions. I am not talking about those spots but places where everybody hunts. We probably release 85% of the hogs we catch on the spot unless somebody wants to get one mounted or stick one in the freezer, but some people just cannot stand the thought of letting one go. I guess I dont get it.

Some people have super rough dogs that by the time they get their hands on the hog it would be more humane to kill it.

Then other folks are accustomed to only catching one hog and calling it a hunt.

If you are a little bit scared of turning one loose and having it come get ya. Leave it tied for thirty minutes or so to Make it's legs sore. Most of them that I turn loose stay layed down as we walk of, but sometimes I like to give em a good kick to the rear when someone new is on the trip.  laugh

Killing every hog. Not barring boars they release. Running to many dogs on the ground at one time. I am guilty of these things at one point but not anymore. Another is people that will not control their dogs

You boys need to come to my part of the country for a couple of years......you would go back to TX with a new appreciation of what you have out there. I'd give no telling what to be able to drive an hour and have hogs to hunt anytime I wished....that would be Heaven for me. You have it better than you realize if you live where you can run hogs without having to dive 3 or 4 hours to do so.......so quit your griping about all this and go hunt while you can!!!! Grin Grin Seriously though, you folks do have it much better than we do here in north AL......remember that next time you feel like griping.
I don't understand why some of you hunt with these 'undesirables' though.....surely you had to know ahead of time that they were less than trustworthy....sorry but I just don't understand that. Maybe I'm missing something here, but we really don't have that problem....one reason is that we require anyone to go hunting with the group in TN in order to be able to go to south GA later in the year, which is the real sweet deal as opposed to hunting in TN which is tough as can be.....this weeds out the fly-by-nights in a hurry. Plus,.....if they act a fool or seem like a rogue or a law breaker....they just don't get invited in the first place.....works good so far.

Fire medic....there's a few guys that will help young guys out. Take them out and help them get their pups started. I've done it myself...but...my main place is public access so it doesn't really matter.

When I got back into dogging I had a pup that I needed to start and it was during deer season. Monty welcomed me out....we hunted quite a few times through the fall. I also hunt with Blake Fanning....he's got quite a few spots and welcomed me to come hunt with him after we met out in the woods. Chase Mallard picked up my bulldog and a pup that were lost, called me to pick them up. Weve hunted on a couple of his spots and will again. Then theres Brett Bonner and Richard Miller, Drew Whistler and Jordan Young. The list goes on. I don't know if its just my trustworthy face  Grin or just an abundance of generosity but there are some good people around. If I was that kind of guy I would have all kinds of places to road, rig, hood and walk hunt. As it is...if I don't want to hunt by myself on my public access place and everyone is already booked or tied up I just sit home. My girl don't mind that a bit  Grin

Unfortunately....not everyone is......?ethical?

It does kinda suck when you've done the work to find spots to hunt and someone comes in behind your back. Easy way to lose spots that way....one hunter is every hunter as far as some landowners are concerned.

I don't get people worried about what other people do. Do you think we will run out of pigs? I hate fence jumpers and fence cutters. Why because they mess it up for everyone. I don't care what you do with a hog you catch.

The one thing I hate is some just wont do anything for someone unless he benefits from it or acts like he is your buddy as long as it is for him!! I wish I could get more hunting spots but they just don't come that easy I try to pay but them deer hunters just don't want you running dog during off season but I will keep trying!!

Like Monty said the drama.. I've distanced myself from all the "professional" hog Doggers... I try to keep a good reputation for myself I'm not lucky to have allot of land to hunt when I do hunt is cause I get invited my others so I help out with anything I can...

Bringing a gyp that's coming in heat, in heat, or just got out of heat! Let ur buddy's know before hand so u can bring all females or jut leave her butt at home till she is completely out. I'm guilty of this mostly cuz the gyp wasn't showing (bleeding or swollen at all) ended up catching three that evening, after the hogs were loaded up, my lead gyp and my buddy's lead male locked up!

my biggest gripe I have  , is the reputation and perception we have received from the public due to the [ few ] unethical and rouge element in this sport . you know the ones that drive the roads and dump dogs on anybody's property at night where they see a pig cross and the ones running the deer leases at night when they know they aren't allowed in there  .

Hunters getting permission to hunt a 50ac track knowing they are going to get off and hunting were they don't have permission.  Hunting land that you know another guy hunts regular.

i agree with almost all of this. Another one is people bringing pups or crap dogs when they are invited to someone elses place without asking. I know these dogs need time in the woods but theres a time and a place. Can't stand having em stand at your feet or just walking around with their noses up every dogs a$$.
