During the last few months  every time I go to leg a hog I get this nervous feeling. I don't hesitate to leg them but once I have it legged all sorts of crazy stuff goes through my mind. Any ideas on how to shake this?

Keep legging them. The only other option is to sell out and quit.

Everyone has this pumping through them when there in the situation, but will not admit it because they want to feel that their billy bad ass. I made a living in the ring back in the 80's and my boys fight MMA and I tell them if you don't have butterflies when coming out your not human. You keep legging them and have fun with it because the feelings your having will get a lot better.

Being nervouse is normal. Doing what needs done regardless of nerves separates those that u can count on and those that hide in closet.

I'm not "old" but at 43 I ?THINK? I have a certain level of Maturity in certain situations. When I was younger....I was either fearless or stupid. I.E. 1988, Military, my first parachute jump. I never had a single negative thought. Was it that I trusted the training or that I was stupid?  Grin

Same scenario, Operation Just Cause (the Panama, Noriega thing) 500ft jump, 1:00 a.m. Into an enemy airfield. Mind was blank for all intensive purposes. I mean I was focused on our mission objectives but that's about it, lol. Again....was I just confident in my training and those around me or was it just a different mental state at the time?

Fast Forward 15 years.....

Halfbreed and I were on a decent Boar and....I don't remember what exactly happened but the Boar was a split second from getting free...or actually...I think he got free a split second before I tackled him.  Undecided Not the smartest decision probably but we came out unscathed so I guess it was all good.

That was a few years ago and things are a little different now. I tend to analyze the situation a little more when I have the chance.....not to a point that it is hazardous to me or anyone else because if you put me in that exact situation again the outcome would probably be the same....but....im less apt to take chances now when I don't have to.

Hell I don't know....im probably still just stupid  Tongue

I'm fine when the dogs are on it and I have it legged but when the dogs are off is when it kicks on. I'm sure my mind is just over thinking things.

Before you spellcheck someone else, pretty sure Shotgun is spelled with one O, and Mortal Combat is spelled Mortal Kombat  Grin

I grew up in Louisiana to with cur dogs and guns and I've never experienced this punch of death  laugh don't get your panties in a wad, it's a joke, so why not just tie the hog instead and kill him later.

when you loose RESPECT  of these hogs you will wind up on the wrong end  lol  my old signature on another site about sums it up

RESPECT THE HOGS AND TRUST THE DOGS  !!!

big difference between respecting what these hogs are capable of and being afraid of what they can do as well .  all you cowboys and hog nijas be carefull out thar one wrong sling of the head from a bad boar could end your hunting career and or life  .

Be cautious at all times. But I honestly don't think and just react. I agree with the first reply. Keep legging them I am sure it will pass. It is just nerves.
