Just wondering what everybody's experience was with older gyps that had litters. How old is too old?
NOT starting a 3 page debate that eventually turns into why some dogs should be bred and some should not, just figured it was a question that should be answered. Thank you for your time and input.

I have a young dog out of a gyp that was over 10yrs old and had a litter of I think 9 or 10 pups for whats its worth

My buddy has a 10yr old Walker that just had 7 pups 2 weeks ago and has raised them all this far with no problem.

Keep her well fed and in a decdntly cool location and you oughta be good to go! The 10yr old im talkin about had her pups in an open air barn in the setex heat and was just fine |

Had a bitch that was 15 and she did good just kept powered milk and feed out 24/7.

Age is just a number. Depends more on what kind of physical shape they are in/ general health. I just raised 6 pups out of a 10 year old btch it was her first litter. Had no problems she is still milking a little and they are 8 weeks old and been eating solid food for almost three weeks. But she has a mouth full of teeth and still gets it done in the woods. Some dogs have more longevity than others. Now a 10 year old gummer that cant hang for more than a few hours in the woods is probly too old to breed. I would say if they are still in good enough shape to hunt all day then they are capable of raising pups.
