Just wanted to ask for any advice on how to keep flies away. I have a big fan on them and keep their pens clean. These pups are a week old and not sure what I can spray around or on them. Any suggestions?

I use permethrin 10% and just wipe the pups down with a damp rag soaked in it . [ I hate summer pups ] but I have done this with many litters over the years . them flies love  a dogs ears you can also put some udder butter on their ears to help . that along with some martins fly bait put close , but where the dogs can't get at it . I will also put that sticky fly tape hanging aroun the kennel  .

Thanks. Will it hurt to spray the pens with it? Been worried since they r so young and nursing. Do I need to dilute it or just straight.

1 oz per gallon is safe. I sprayed inside my whelping box and the yard. It will knock the flies down for a week or so but you should spray the surrounding area as well. Flies will land near by at nite and this helps.

yes I forgot I should have said to dilute the permethrin .   ALLWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABLE AND MIX ACCORDINGLY .  anytime I use a product of any kind the first place I look is that label on the bottle to see what the smart folk and college boys suggest as far as mixing their product  . granted some of it I ignore , but for the most part I use as directed .

Never have. You can but they don't have much residual. Just a few hours. I have used the udder balm...seemed to work fairly well. Forgot the brand I used but I suspect they are all pretty much the same.
