Ellie was killed by a gator this morning, on a small creek in central Florida. She died doing what she did best, doing what she thought her master wanted her to do. It was the first run of the morning, I turned Ell and Shiner out... Ell went one direction and Shine went the other. After about 20 minutes, just like clockwork, we heard Ellie bay up about a half mile away, down by the creek. We grabbed the catch dogs and headed to her... after a few minutes however, she went silent. When I pulled out the tracker to see where she was I got nothing but a real weak signal that I couldn't pinpoint... After an hour or so of triangulating, I eventually came back to the same piece of creek bottom we would eventually pull her body from. After going and getting a 10' gator hook and a jon boat, we began probing the bottom of the creek and Lee finally hooked her and got her up so I could give her a proper burial. The gator had tore her up pretty bad, but she went down fighting. Both of her upper canines were pulled from the socket, and her lowers were broken flush as she bit the gator on the way down. Hopefully her teeth will still be in his head when it hangs on my wall. Ellie. How can I describe a dog that was indescribable. She made alot of people happy in her lifetime. She was my constant companion, she was the guardian of my wife and child when I was gone, she knew me better than a knew myself. Ellie was a different kind of dog, she didn't hunt because she loved it, she did it because she knew how much I love it... and would do anything to make me happy. She hunted for me, and she gave her life for me. My girls. The good times. Thank you Ellie, I will never forget you.

Noah, I feel for you and I am sorry for your loss. We all have had or do have a dog that we just don't want to ever see go and I can imagine she was that dog for you and your family. RIP girl. Matt
