P&P for me. As long as Mr Larry is able to build gear, I will buy from him. Between him and his wife, you can't find nicer to deal with. Filling your order may not be the fastest from him, but that is because he doesn't stock a bunch of generic small, med, and large sizes. He wants the measurements for your dog and will build the vest to fit. he will build it dang near any way you want it and will  sure enough stand behind his product as well.

Most everyone that I run with runs p&p gear, and there are no complaints. With that said, every vest out there can and will be cut through. I've seen the wild boar vests that Bob runs on his catch dogs and they look top notch for sure. Some others I have seen that I liked the looks of are the southern cross ones , and recently 4r cut gear looks very nice. The 4r vests look to be pretty much a copy of the p&p's.

I haven't seen a ton of different gear. I have seen swamp dawg, custom collar, southern style, and a Lil hardcore hog dog stuff.

I currently run swamp dawg. The bay vest is a Lil thin to me but I do run it on a RCD. The collars haven't been cut yet but I can't say for sure one has been hit in the collar either.

The custom collar stuff I saw was awfull heavy to me. On a lead in catch dog it would be fine I'm sure but to much for a RCD. Looks like it held up well and did its job.

I have only layed hands on a southern style collar. It was a good bit thicker than my swamp dawg but not much heavier and plenty flexible. I plan on getting a better look at the vest before I buy.

The only hardcore vest I saw was an old bay vest. The guy that owned it ran it on a rough bay dog. It was a lighter vest than my swamp dawg vest and more of a bib than vest. The outside layer was in shreds but it had never been cut thru. He had had the vest for some years and I'm sure the briars are the cause of failure for the outer layer.

In the end the only one that knows what works for u is u. Ur style of hunting is the main factor. In my style of rough catchy dogs along with my RCD I need a vest as light as possible with minimal water retention and maximum protection. I would really love to place some of these vest side by side and compare apples to apples.

Hard core for me light and I run one of his older vests that is a bay light catch vest as a catch vest.   I dont run a lead in as much and like the lightness of his vests

I got some custom collar, off the chain ,ugly dog, p&p and cofedarate kennels in my opion the best collar is p&p durability and fit and cost at 22 bucks and up. Vest p&p seem to have more stich per vest and seem to be better made. Fit wise confederate is very good fit and very light and can add a layer of leather in and still very light and price is good. For the money custom collar is good but fit isn't that good but they do the job. Ugly dog stuff is very well made but can be pricey and mine have been cut thru I hope this can help you I got a lot trying to find the best one for the right price

 Wild Boar USA.
The best hands down. Spend the money and do it right the first time. I have two four layer Gaurdain Titan vests. Impressed with both of them. They cost around 275 if I remember right but they are worth every penny. One vest is almost four years old. It has saved my bulldogs a time or two. When you compare cut gear make sure you are looking at the same thing. A layer of wet felt between courdura is not even in the same ballpark as kevler.
