Man, Im so sick of sows, choats, and small boars!!! This one didn't have much ivory but dang it..... I will take it!

Our son, Tyler and his girlfriend, Courtney went hunting with us last weekend. It was hot, no wind, and steamy humid. We wanted to catch a hog because it was Courtneys first time to ever hog hunt.

We went to our hot spot.... nothing  Embarrassed  , rode all over the farm... nothing  Embarrassed , at 4am, decided to put all of the dogs on the ground for some exercise and head back to the truck.

All of the dogs took off. Ran about 300 yards down the road in front of us. Except for a young, silent  Cool  hound pup that we just started a few months ago. He went about 150 yards down the road and hung a hard left into the brush and went to hammering!  Grin

Oh hell yea! It was on!

James turned the only strike dog left in the buggy out. Ol Red. He was resting his old bones until he heard the bay. We been catching small hogs and sows so we knew that Red would catch it.

Well Red got there and so did the rest of the pack. Still only heard Bo (hound cross) baying. We figured that they were all trying to catch. Well, they were moving!  Huh?

Not very fast but still they were on the move. Went about another 2 or 300 yrds and then bayed in the bottom of a grown up old drain ditch. I guess the hog was dragging them, or bluffing his way through.

Got there and no baying, except for a chop every now and then just deep grunting.  OH YEAH!! Turned the catch dogs loose and caught hog!  Tyler was excited because this was the biggest hog that he has ever put his hands on by himself.

Courtney was surprised that she ejoyed it. She didnt think that hunt was her thing. She is very much a city girl. But she said that it was all very exciting and she had a great time.  Smiley  which we were glad to hear.

Why, yes it is the very same one  Smiley    That dude has got a nose on him. He found that hog right after the rest of the dogs ran right past it. We were VERY pleased with him.

LMAO! Yes they do! The best part that I love is having a silent hound it the pack. NEVER thought I would ever consider a hound. I love this dog now that he has matured. It takes a little long for these dog to mature than a cur dog. But worth the wait. He took more the hound look. I will see if I can get a pic of him to upload.

He went through a long awkward stage. But he finished nicely. He doesn't look it in the pic but he weighs about 70 to 75 pounds. He is a big boy. He can run all day. I love it! He is a little on the chubby side right now. I need to pull him back to about 65 pounds.

He has a great attitude and gets along with all dogs and people. Just hates hogs.
