Me and a buddy got a 100 acre pen. Just trying to speed up the puppy process. I'm not a new hunter or nothing but wondering how many y'all would put in there.

how many hogs, or how many dogs? I would imagine for the hogs, 5-10 and puppies, no more than 4 at a time or 2 with an older dog.

Where Yall located? Sounds like a good place to get pups started. We got a small pen maybe 5 acres and we put 2 rough sows in with a couple puppies.

There's a pen that size in the setx area?  I've been trying to find someone with a pen but am starting to consider just building a smaller one myself.

Depends how many you can afford to feed. I try to keep 4 in my 8 acre pen and that's about all I can afford they eat a couple bags of feed a week.

I have always had smaller pens to start CDs or pups then they stay in the woods. I figured a 100 acre pen could help a ton. Has thickets and hardwoods and a creek running through so they have plenty of water. Was thinking maybe 20 hogs then once I get the pups finding them narrow down to 5 hogs or so so them pups will have to work for them. Thought I was through breeding for a while but I'm going to have to have to let me another litter drop.

Just remember, you want to keep your pen thick so you dont have a sight race. The more hogs you have in it, they will root all the underbrush out. Five is plenty in a 100 acres & your pups will have to hunt & use their nose to find them.
