"Found" this dog in a kennel while working on a hunting plantation here in central Georgia. He off a dog named whipperwill wild again out of Abilene Tx. Check out his build. Thinking of crossing him over a Campbell cur/pit cross which is extremely driven and gamey.

Good looking for sure, I've got a solid black one that is turning it on. My first try with a pointer, so far no complaints. Trashy at first, as expected, but learned to respect the e collar rather quick

It's a quail dog. Hunts out around 300 - 400 yards

What are your plans with him after the cross? I would be willing to make room for him

buddylee....here is some info on Whipporwill Wild Agin. http://www.phantomkennels.com/wildagin.htmlHis pedigree link is in the middle of the page. He is a strong Miller bred dog which would indicate the dog can RUN. He is Horseback field trial stock for SEVERAL generations. FYI....the numbers you see for instance with CH. Miller's Silver Bullet - *100-613-4326 are as follows. The * means this dog is in the Field Trial Hall of Fame. 100 represents how many field trial placements this dog has. 1st, 2nd. or 3rd place, if enough dogs were entered in the trial, is considered a "placement". 613 represents how many of his offspring had placements in a field trial and the 4326 represents the total number of trial “placements” from the 613 offspring that placed.

The dam to the dog came from a guy named Fred Rayl or Rail. You ever heard of him ?

Yep...Freddie is a cornerstone in the Field Trail game. Always with a very good string of dogs to compete with. If I'm not mistaken Freddie is from down your way.

Seeing how I'm not a quail hunter or in that circle, this dog sounds like as good a EP as I'll ever have a chance to breed too.

Worth a shot. A good friend of mine bred a bird/bull gyp to a heavily decorated Field Trial English Pointer male for a pretty good chunk of change. She had two pups that both have turned into phenomenal lead dogs!

This male isn't a field trial champion but at the same time I can breed to him for free.

In my opinion, this dog is a very good candidate to breed to and the price is right also! Taking into account that this dog is kenneled on a plantation, the chances of him being a good bird dog is very good, as these operations can’t keep dead weight around. A good part of their income is from guiding hunters over these dogs. Without seeing him in the field, I feel it is a safe bet to say he is indeed a good hunting dog.
Secondly, his genetics says to me he is worth breeding to as well as being a good hunting dog. His sire is from a long line of very successful field trial dogs. His dam, being one of Freddy Rayl’s dogs, also points me in the direction of him being the right stuff. Freddy Rayl has been field trialing for many years. He knows a good dog, one to keep and one to breed to, so having said all that, yeah that liver and white male you have a picture of should make a nice stud dog.
If my memory serves me correctly, Campbell curs are a pointer/bulldog cross already? I will be anxious to hear more about this potential future breeding Buddylee.
