Well I had no plans on hunting today but things change. Got home from work today and fired up the pit to cook some chicken while I was cutting and removing a giant tree branch that fell on my kennels a couple days ago. Got it all cut up and hauled to the burn pile and did a patch on my kennels until I can rebuild them. Got the chicken on the pit and decided to walk out to the pond out back to kill some time. Well I walked down the bank to the two acre pond that is only about an acre an a half due to no rain and up jumped a big arse boar hog out of a wallow and he shagged butt in the brush. Being smart and all (lol) I walk back to the house and grab my Sasha pups Chad and LC to see if they will take his track. Mind you I have no GPS right now because its back at Garmin for the fourth time this year.. Figured what the heck their pups, no worries. Get back to the pond about thirty minutes later and drop them next to the pond. They go straight to the other side where that boar hog left and take his track off into the woods. They open up for a minute at about 300 yards and go silent. I thought oh heck this might be good so I head back to the house and grab Master Splinter(Staghound) and head back to the back of my property. Get to my feeder and listen and I can hear them sitting solid at what sounds like about 400 or 500 yards out. Master Splinter and I start the trek to them and what I though was about 400 yards felt like a mile in that thick crap. I have never walked through these parts in the middle of summer. Get within about 20 to 30 yards and try to catch my breath and composure because I think sh@t is fixing to get real, real quick. Remember this boar I seen was a good one, guessing 250#'s. Mind you I'm only 150 pounds soaking wet Lol. I finally got the cojones to let Splinter go and bam he hits and the pig starts squealing (not gonna lie this was a relief lol) Well I run in behind Splinter and find this 60 to 80 pound sow. I ain't mad at em. This was only their second pig in the woods by their selves. I'm guessing he ran through some smaller pigs and they took an easier target. Splinter and Chad  LC  |

Its always a good thing when pups get to do it all by themselves its a good learning experience an it would of sucked if was a runner without that Garmin good lookin yella dog

Its always a good thing when pups get to do it all by themselves its a good learning experience an it would of sucked if was a runner without that Garmin good lookin yella dog
Thank you.. No doubt, it would have sucked but being pups I didn't figure they would go too far. In hindsight I don't believe I will do this again... but its hard to see a hog and not catch it..LOL |

Glad the pups could work one out ! 60-80lb is a good eater ! Throw it in with the chicken you cooking lol
