I would say yes because you are catching and in some cases killing the hogs which is the same as trapping other animals and you have to have a license for that. I would get one just to be sure. I have a lifetime license so I dont have to worry about that.

The way I understand is if you are hunting hogs on private land you don't have to have it because they are not a game animal they are a nuisance

LA Fish and Wildlife stopped me last year on my lease and asked for my licence...I showed it to him and I was free to go.  I buy one anyway to hunt on the WMAs; not worth the hassle for me to not have one.  I'd get one and not worry about it.

Good question... Let me ask this question... Do you need a license to hunt hogs with a weapon?
I looked in the outdoor manual and it didn't say... I have always heard you don't need a license to hunt hogs as long as they " are causing damage" which every hog does ..

Reckon your friend will pay your fine if he unknowlingly gave you the wrong info?..... Best to get your info from the source so you know you are legal.

Yeah I think I'm going to call and talk to a Louisiana Game warden .. Being from Texas I know the laws here but didn't want to buy an out of state Licence unless I had too..

Yeah man I heard that, a non resident yearly fishing license is a hair shy of a benjamin.....i can imagine the yr hunting isnt cheap either......1 thing you may look into depending how long you will be there are weekend/week long licenses....i dont know if La has em but multiple states do have short term licenses that will save you a little money.......

According to the game Wardon that gave some friends of mine pretty good tickets for not having them I would say you need it.

Not only is that Texas but you have to be the land owner or lessee. As soon as your dogs cross a fence you are in trouble even if they started on land you own.

I really do not see why anyone would not get a hunting license. Even broke go eat beans and rice for a week and get your hunting license. If they write you a ticket you will have to take off from work and hope that you beat the ticket in court. You may even want a lawyer. All that just to not go get a license? Plus you are giving your money to the people that if hunting was outlawed would not have a job. I have found law enforcement to be much nicer when you do not even try to bend a law. You have all your stuff in order and then if you make a mistake they believe it is a mistake. But you make a mistake and then you do not have your hunting license because you found some loop hole in the law. Then you look like someone that tries to not follow the law so they think that mistake was on purpose. I even like to have the permission to hunt in writing. I have not had any problems with GW's or and LEO. I just do my best to follow the rules.

Not trying to find a loop hole in the law!! I don't believe in paying for something that is not needed.. Never been in trouble with GW that's why I asked the question..

that is only for night hunting with a gun.
I don't think you need a license for hunting with dogs. But to be safe and make hem think you are legit it wouldn't hurt to have a license. A one day out of state is not that much.
