they don't weigh much Charles they got them for 50 cents a back .. heck a whole leg quarter is less than a dollar and a whole lot more meat . maybe that's a 40# box it would have to be for me to buy it .

sometimes the leg quarters are about the same cost as dog food...or close to it... but like Halfbeed said...the backs are some of the best eating on a chicken...so is the gizzard, neck, wing...and when I lived on the farm we cut the claws off and scaled the feet and they were tasty...

That is high. Should be around 30 cents a pound. Feeding just backs will not work. Not enough meat.

I use to do backs for my dogs when I lived up in ft worth. Great suppliment with regular feed especially in Winter. I do more quarters now couple of times a week in the winter for the workers. Can get em fairly cheap at Kroger or Wal-mart. Use to get my backs straight from the packing house.

well at the moment loui the 10# bag of leg quarters are only 7.38 which is way up from the 3.39 3 years ago lol and depending on the size there are usually around 8 or 9 sometimes 10 legs to a bag . so you can get 20# of meaty chicken for 15 bucks vs a boney old back . the chicken is at wally wood in the meat dept. and everybody in America lives 10 minutes from a Wal-Mart lol

30 bucks for 50 pounds of chicken quarters is not a bad price...it is comparable to a high quality dog food...I have fed this a few times but not worth the hassle to me...dogs love the chicken way better than the regular dog food but...

I feed 325-400 pounds of chicken a month. 4.59-5.59 per ten pound bags. Call around to different Walmarts. It is a pain but it keeps me from smelling dog crap. I also feed a oatmeal yogurt concoction with supplements. You can not just feed raw meat they need other minerals etc.
