Do we have any saltwater fishermen around? I have a few questions about soft plastics. What is the best soft plastics and what colors do you like? I have to start over with my tackle box. I know there is new and improved tackle from the last time I bought it. Im ready to catch some speckled trout, its been way to long.

4" hybrid flurry in key lime, avocado or the clear color on a 1/8th ounce jig head is my go to soft plastic year round on sabine....trout, reds and flounder all love em.
Or a texas tackle factory sand eel or paddle tail in morning glory, chicken on a chain or texas roach colors.....my box is FULL of soft plastics but we find our selves using those colors 95% of the time.
The hybrid flurry is the best soft plastic bait i have ever used saltwater wise.....i buy them 100 at a time and they get used! ......they are my number 1 confidence bait, if i throw one for 5-10 minutes without catching a fish, i move lol.
Just remember to match your bait to the hatch..... If you know the fish are there but you are only catching one occasionally try to figure out what they are feeding on and throw the closest sized/colored jig in your box at em, thats when it pays to have different sized plastics down to 2 or so inches.
If you are going to be pier fishing under lights i suggest you pick up some 2" shad colored little fishies and some 2" finesse minnows.......tandem rig them on a small 1/8 ounce crappie jig head.....alot of the time on sabine under the lights smaller works better.....

Bayou Chub Minnow by ReAction Lures is my choice. It's all a confidence thing. I have tackle bags full of soft plastics in every color and make but I always turn to the Bayou Chub Minnow in Purple/chartruse. Have caught tons of specks with this bait. Other folks have their go to bait.

Thanks for the replies, I like the flounder run almost as much as catching nice trout. I remember when 300$ bought the best rod and reel out there, hell some of the reels go up to 400&500$ and same with the rods. I dont want to go buy a bunch of crap that I will never use, thats why Im asking the questions. I will be fishing the Galveston Bay complex
