What are yalls thoughts on the hog population now days? It seems like theres no where near as many pigs in my area as there was a few years ago. And im not seein as many dead hogs on the highways as to where a few years ago I'd see em everywhere. Just curious if any of yall are seein this as well

Same around here man. Seems like there harder and harder to locate. And when we do the suckers just flat run. Hog doggin has changed alot to me it seems. I havent been huntinf near aslong as alot of people on here but i remember when you bayed a hog it would hold its ground and every now and then youd get on a runner. But hell arpund here theres a hog hunter or trapper for every patch of land on each side of the road.

Here in Georgia the numbers have dropped significantly. Too much pressure.

I can't say if they've dropped or not where I hunt in Hardin county I haven't been around long, but we have quite a few and they're super elusive I spend a ton of time in the woods sometimes hunting and often not hunting and I never see them on roads or lanes or pipelines.

well a lot of it is pressure but for the most part this drought has got the hogs moving all over texas looking for greener pastures . where ever you find a good supply of food and water you will find hogs . the litter numbers drop off significantly in times of stress .

what I have noticed about hogs is that as the drought gets worse and the water tanks, ponds, and sloughs recede and dry up the hogs concentrate closer to those water supplies and only venture out to feed but yet not too far from the water...once the it rains and there are puddles that last a week or so they move out for a while...as the water dries up they migrate back to where water is available...at least that is my interpretation as to what I have seen...

I don't think the there is a decline but they move so much now it's hard to find them. I can look for sign to hunt one day and find sign hunt the next day and won't be a hog Anywhere. Hogs hit the ground on the move these days

I don't think the hog population has diminished at all I I do believe the amount of pressure on em with the drought not helping but they can be caught at the right place at the right times but they defenetly move way more then they used to

The hog population in this area is not even close to what it was 10 years ago... used to be hogs under every bush.
