I got an invite from Courtney and Aaron to go hunting at one of their properties in La Grange. They only had a young dog and TJ so they asked me to bring a dog or two to find pigs since their two main dogs had gone missing for over a week and had just been found. I brought Squaw and Earl and Kid to catch. They also had two young catch dogs Colt and Kimber. We turned loose a little after 6 am and soon found a rather large track. Then we found some very deep rooting that was fairly fresh. It wasn't long after Squaw barked followed closely by Earl and the other two young dogs. We eased in and sent catch dogs from pretty close. Colt hit the hog and got tossed and the hog took off before the other two got there. The hog ran to a tank where the fight was on. The hog swam to the center of the tank where he was trying to dive repeatedly to shake the dogs. Aaron swam out to help and when the hog finally poped up the dogs weren't on it. Kid swam to the bank and the hog zeroed in on him. When the hog was able to get his footing he charged and Kid met him head on. Kimber grabbed the other ear and Colt piled on to secure it. Aaron was able to leg it and after a couple of tries got the hog stuck. It wasn't the biggest hog I've caught but the sucker sure was pretty. He weighed 355 and had 3.25 inch teeth on both sides.

Everytime you are running dogs or trapping hogs, every encounter is different. Got to love it. Please be safe! Wild hog will get you if given the chance!!

Hog is being mounted by the fella who set up the hunt. Matt we kicked around that idea for quite a while. I don't know if I will ever get another hog that pretty.
