I've been doing some reading and looking into things and I am thinking about starting up an east Texas militia. If I could get some people who are serious about it and would honestly be willing to be apart of it I think I will do so. Let me know what y'all think. This isn't a joke it will not be a discriminatory organization what so ever. I'd like to find three or four guys who could help organize and set some guidelines of the things we should and need to do for this.

I'm not looking to start a group of problems. I'm looking at having a group of citizens that can be trained to defend there families and their rights and still be able to be a citizen that has a full time job and can be home with their families each night but at the same time be willing to help their community and surrounding communities with any situation that may arise.

I've read about other militias that are established throughout Texas and the things they are doing they train and prepare for things that could very well happen sooner or later. Doesn't mean it would ever happen but its better to be prepared with a plan of action and never need it that to need it and never have it.

I don't know a lot about militias; my thoughts are, your efforts may be better spent finding "like" people and working with Representatives and Senators (Politicians) to get your voice heard.  I think there are a lot of good honest people out there that vote once every four years, but they don't know their impact after that.  A lot of bills and laws get passed because people don't know how they can argue.  I'm still not real clear on your intent so I could not support a militia myself, but I would support a group (kind of like lobbiest) that would help us common guys know what we could do to get our voices heard.  I feel sometimes like the common man doesn't know who to call and what to say when we know we are suppose to do something.  We don't act because we don't know how, it is not because we don't want to.  I hope all this makes sense...good luck with your cause.  That is the great thing about this county (freedom)!!

Militias gives you a bad view in the publics eye from the start.  I think your idea is in the right place we all need to be prepaired.

Yeah...a different name may be needed...lol. NOTHING good (that I know of) has come about concerning any organization with the word "Militia" in their name since the revolutionary war.

Then again....you can call it a kitty cat, but if it looks like a skunk and smells like a skunk....

Well how bout "tx home guard" instead of tx militia? As far as the bad rep militias hav, why not try n change it, stop the cycle with this group. Any member found representing the "unit" in a bad maner is ask to leave and not come back till they can get their stuff together. Run it similar to the the us military, but w/ o some of the dumb chit.

as far as paperwork in organization I would not be that guy. I do know that you can write it up as a non profit organization and be legitimate about it. maybe even grants. what I can help with is very personal reasons for me. I'm a veteran of the Marine Corps, father of 7, business owner and a martial artist I'm actually  doing Golden Gloves this year. I'm older so I will be in a Masters division lol.... not too long ago there was two rapes close to my neighborhood. I help organize self defense classes at a gym that I attend. . I can help with some hand to hand combat stuff but that would be it

I think goin for a non profit org would b the best route if the group could get off the ground n get goin. I also think a group as this would need to hav a rank structure similar to the armed forces. Gainin support from the closed minded civi population would also a big challenge, a challenge greater than gainin political support. It would also take pencile pusher to handle paperwork n logistics.

I definetly agree Charles there does need to be a rank structure and I didnt intend on it being a profitable organization. And I think once the civi population sees and has a chance to understand what we are about we will have more support

U r correct, but 10 ad-a-boys can be wiped out by 1 oh chit. It takes many yrs to build a positive rep, but only takes a split sec to ruin it for all. To positively impact the civi pop n show the good of group, will require more than ole' joe snuffy off the street dayin "wow this looks cool, can i join?" A group of this nature cant be a bunch of camy wearin fat bearded drunks shootin up the local woods/gun range, but will require like minded military orriented personel to run things n lay down n enforce the rules n regs, n if need be, hand over the idiot to the local po-pos'. The biggest issue with a civilian para military group is, the limited ability of rule enforcement. With no fear of punishment, again, not just any1 should b allowed until an extensive overwatch has been completed. Wont b no room for wanna-be rambos. The best candidates would be former socom operators, retired mil, near spotless mil career if not retired, former/current leos, where their dept allows such partisipation in such groups.

Yes we definetly don't need wanna be Rambos and rules and regulations need to be enforced at all time there has to be guidelines that everyone in the group must follow or be removed as part of the group. And I also agree about the canidates being military involved past or present but at the same time not just strictly limited to that. I personally have never been military or public servant of any type but I have views and thoughts and I am a proud Texan and will always be. I think with enough planning and discussions we could organize this group and it be a success and a useful resource in many different ways. But for this to happen the rules and regs will have to be strictly enforced regardless the case.

We will keep everyone interested posted. This isn't gonna be something that starts up in a week.or two there are going to have to be a lot of things discussed and lined out before anything takes place. That being said if there are any thoughts ideas suggestions please voice them so that everything can be taken into consideration. But that being said let's keep it legitamete, rreasonable, and respectable. This will not turn into a bunch of rednecks getting drunk and shooting chit up!! And I mean no disrespect by saying rednecks just to be clear.
