Ok I put it in a dirt pen and worked it a little and watered it in.  Then I read it might burn the dogs feet so just wondering if anyone had used it.  Wanted to put a dog back in there in a couple of days but thought I would check first.

It can get pretty hot, but you would have to use quite a bit to do that. If your just dusting the ground and working it in than it shouldn't be a problem. I do mine once a year. Usually early spring when the temps are cooler.  We use it when building roads. Lime works really good on hi PI soils. It helps stabilize the soil and yes it can really heat up the soil as it's cooking away. Just watch out how much you use.
