Yep, peroxide will kill live, good tissue and slow the healing process. It's good for initial cleaning but becomes non-beneficial after that.

Yea no peroxide, that purple horse medicine in the aersol can works wonders. A round of anti-biotics should help. Had a buddies dog get hit like that except it actually cut em off. He made it but not w/o a story to tale.

Ive had very good luck with vetericyn but im sure any of the other products mentioned will work.....if you plan to breed him in the future i would pay extremely close attention to keeping it as clean as possible.....hydrotheraphy multiple times daily until it is completely closed.... Reading this post makes me cringe....thats gotta hurt!

Hey justin I have a cut dog right now as well and im using hydrotherapy plus the veterycn. My question to you is how hard do you want that water pressure on the wound for it to work properly?

No pressure at all man, take your nozzle or hread off of your garden hose amd just let it flow on the wound for a minimum of 5 minutes (the longer the better) at least twice a day. Then re-apply the vetericyn. Oughta have him fixed up pretty quick!

I tried it on a wound out of desperation cause nothing else was working and I was really surprised. That stuff works. and fast.

Had my 8 m/o cut like that with one hanging. Tried stitching him up but he washed them out. Decided to let close up on its own, some stitches stayed and held it both of them in. It closed up but had to watch him for infection. Kept him on a regime of antibiotic every other day for 5 injections and kept it clean. It healed up and he's a great BMC and I'm hoping he's got the juice to makes some pups later.
