I have paid over 2k for a dog not worth the time to dig a hole. Paid 300 bucks for my dog Sally and 500 for snapper. Not great dogs but way above average for sure. Snapper has long line of dogs behind her and has gotten better with age. They are both solid dogs and I have faith that they will find hogs if they are around.
I may be thinking of someone else but was it Jasper who had a hard time sticking with a hog not too long ago ? Barking then when you got close he would show up ?

No....must be thinking of someone else.

That's true enough...but I tell you what....there ARE some papered dogs out there that can flat get it done.

Whistlers Buzz dog young Catahoula is papered and he is turning into a DANG good dog. Really impressive.

I am a little skeptical cause he is a yellow dog...  Smiley but I would pay 400 from what you described...but when we consider raising and wormings/vaccines, as well as training...then realistically I would consider paying a little more...

The dog looks like he has a touch of hound which I see as a good thing in a stock dog...and like others have said I want to buy the whole package, good hog dog and breeding potential from said dog...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...

If I knew the person selling him and had been huntin with the dog enough times to know that he was what you are describing , I'd pay $1500 for him. I know of 2 that are about the same that have had $1500 dollar offers on and it was turned down. To me if your only goal is to go catch hogs with a dog that's easy to hunt then a young dog like that with POTENTIAL to be a sure enough hogdog is worth buying.
The more I hunt the more I want a smart dog that hunts around me for the hog I put him on.A dog that can do it all right by himself. A dog that's just a pleasure to hunt and don't waste a bunch of time running 5 miles from me just to do it.
A dog that kicks rocks in your face and leaves the country when I turn it loose doesn't impress me one bit and neither does A dog that will catch a 200 lb bad boar hog by himself. I want a dog that hunts around me when I turn him loose because 75% of the time when I turn one loose its on top of a big track. I want a dog to hunt that hog and take that track ,not one a mile from me. And while big bad tough rough dogs have their place and I respect them that's not the kind of dog that you can hunt day in, day out for years. They stay cut down and beat and banged up, I've raised plenty of them.
With that being said most people have no clue what kind of dog I'm talking about and if they are selling that dog it's because they are not smart enough to realize what they have or they are done hog huntin.

You ought a know that most folks won't ever get it. Even after they've been schooled by the type of dog your talking about time after time they'll assume the hog was running away from their spazmatic dogs and yours just got lucky.  laugh

Ahah, these ppl actually do exist! Amen

in my oppinion a deer is a varmit, ive seen dogs like this sold for 100.00 and a year later ive seen the same dog bring 1500.00. alot depends on who has the dog and who is hunting the dog. but to answer your question 300 to 500 would be a fair starting price. im not gonna give as much as others because i raise my own dogs.

Just from recalling all the hunts you've posted he strikes %90 of your hogs doesn't he? I'd give $600 for him I think he'd be a good match for my main dog.

The big red sow was struck by a dog called "Three Toe"...good dog, I think a walker/Parker or walker/Kemmer cross.

The Boar in the water was struck by an 8 month old Walker Gyp called "Gypsy"....gonna be a good dog I think.

I don't own either dog.

#1 picture bayed up by my dogs. #3 picture bayed up by Whistlers Buzz dog. That kind of offends me that you would take these other dogs credit like that. My opinion on Jasper and how much he is worth. Jasper has real good potential but if there is a deer in the county he is going to get in behind it and if I was going to buy him I would probably give $200 from what I've seen out of him. Because I think I could break him from running deer. But why would you take the credit for our dogs work like that? I mean Buzz ain't my dog but I've spent a lot of time in the woods with him and Whistler getting them both going and Whistler has made a hell of a hog hunter and he has a hell of a dog. I believe that #3 picture was the first hog Buzz bayed up solo and Jasper wasnt even with him.

Their is always "the other side of the story".  It doesn't matter what you read on here, it seems like someone always has a slightly different version.

I recently bought a pair of male dogs that are just about what your talking about in your dog . And I gave 2000 for the pair. I work out of town and when I come home I like to hunt so they where worth that to me because I where almost finished dogs.
