i was told to tell the difference in the red oak and the white oak that red men shoot pointed arrows and white men shot rounded bullets

water oak is NOT good for fireplace, does not burn verry hot and smokes alot. it is OK for cooking. but again you will need to tend to the fire alot as it does not burn as good as other hard woods.....
