there are a few ways to treat ear mites including ear mite medicines...but one must follow instructions closely...I had an outbreak this spring and all my dogs had them...I tried several treatments and they kept coming back...I finally remembered how I treated them 20+ years ago and treated that way and it cleared them up with very little effort...
I use ivomec 1 percent injectable for cattle and swine...my dogs are between 40-60 pounds and I inject 1.5 cc's under the dogs skin and 1 week later another (1) cc, wait one more week and then another cc...
on the first injection I also squirt about 1.5 cc's in each ear and rub it in...the ear mites will ingest the dogs blood and the ivermectin in the ivomec will kill them and the newly hatched mites will do the same and the cycle will be broken...kEEP YOUR DOG AWAY FROM THE OTHER DOGS BECAUSE THESE BLOOD SUCKERS ARE HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

the left over ivomec you can give to the dogs 1 cc per month for heart worm prevention...there is a formula that some folks follow which I believe is .1 cc's per 10 pounds for the heart worm prevention which equates to .5 cc's for a 50 pound dog...I normally just give 1 cc per month on any dog between 40-60 pound dogs...

Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide, set it in the dogs ear and squeeze the back of their ear a few times. It'll slowly drain down and it's a little bit more tolerable then pouring liquid down their ears.

I took one of my gyps to the vet for a blood test for tick diseases, and I knew she had been shaking her head a lot and scratching at her ears so they checked and she did have ear mites, so he told me to put 1 cc ivomec in each ear and massage the ear to make sure it gets down in the canal before she starts shaking her head. He also said they spread from dog to dog easily so I'll probably have to treat all my other dogs. He also said that if I had been worming monthly with ivomec like I was supposed to the dog would have enough in their system to be immune to the ear mites.

it will work 100 percent of the time the way I described on my previous post...but if you are only going with the ivomec in ears then you need to repeat several times for about 3 weeks otherwise he probably will get re-infected again...

I have been using this method for well over 30 years. Go to the feed store and get the stout iodine. Mix alcohol and white vinegar 50/50, then put the iodine in it until it is the color of strong tea. I use a plastic squirt bottle and put it in each ear and rub it in. It kills them on the spot period.

How many times per day and for how many days do you treat them? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
