If I must use a knife, I like the Buck 119.
I have Kabar, Gerber, Schrade, Sigman, Randall, Lile, Bone - Still like the Buck 119 the best for hog hunting, for two reasons. It penetrates easily, and I can replace it at any Walmart or Academy. Some of my other knives I am not willing to risk losing in the woods.

I've got a Ka bar knockoff made by Frost. The knife works fine, but the sheath that came with it sucked bad. made of hard plastic with nothing to keep the knife still inside it. the knife rattled around inside it constantly. bought a different sheath that's much better. for the price I paid for the knife and the sheath I could have just got a real ka bar, or a couple buck 119's

Your barking up the wronge tree for me to try and tell you how to go about it. Your best bet is to search on the net. I have been trying for about 10 years and just now getting where I am decent. LOTS of trial and LOTS of error for me to just get where I think I am decent.

Sounds like some people have a problem with sticking pigs. Besides training what do you do with live pigs it's not like we are running out?

something about a half a dozen dogs catching a hog then jobbin it with a 15in bowie knife does not seem sportsman like to me...if i cant catch them live i will try again another day... but a knife is a knife it dont matter what brand or anything else as long as its not a folding knife... you will loose a few fingers quick you do need one with a clip point blade, its not gonna stay very sharp jobbin it in hogs so i dont think a high dollar knife to stick hogs is necessary. JMO!!

I agree that a knife doesn't need to be expensive to be used for stickin hogs. might even be better that way, in case you loose it.

there is plenty profit to be made with live hogs My dogs pay for their own feed or they dont eat!!! plenty people would like to eat them too, killing ANY wildlife for sport and not eating it is not how i was brought up. Who is gonna eat a hog that has been in the truck bed dead all day while your still huntin in 100 degree weather??? or who is gonna eat a big boar? Barr him and catch him again when you want to eat him!!! hog hunting is a great sport, I been doing it a long time, seems like the newer generation of hog hunting since it has become more popular is more into the thrill of killing a hog with their bare hands than enjoying it for what it has been for generations. And im not a old man im 30 yrs old. Just my 2 cents worth

I think a lot of East Texas folks that only tie don't realize that most places outside side of here, mainly farm and ranch land, the landowners want the hogs dead... period.
You get caught with a live hog and you don't come back.
We tie most of our hogs also, but we also hunt places where it's stick and move on.

We hunt almost all crop lands. A barr does the same amount of damage as a boar. I dont consider hogs to be wildlife. they are a feral species.
