Had a man ask a question as to what breed of dog do we think makes a best catch dog & why. So of course there was a whole bunch of different answers. Well I stated that I think a dogo makes the best catch dog for the hunting I do. Well some older man jumps on there and says "ALL Dogo's suck!If its just catch get a good solid pit an work with it, they can be taught to not do...an they are the best catch dogs alive"
I then asked him "how many dogos have you owned? Or been around? That's a pretty bold statement"
Now I wasnt trying to be rude, I was just curious.
He comes back at me with "I have owned 2...and had many what we called "Pogo's" which was pit crossed on Dogo trying to improve there lack of balls an wind! LOL HOW MANY HAVE YOU OWNED ALEXIS? Or are just parroting things you read on the Net? They are about useless in Alabama due to the terrain and other issues"
That response just about sent me over the edge. I was about to light him up for that comment asking me if I was parroting things from the Internet. If you've only owned two dogos, you honesty cannot say that dogos suck. Sorry for the rant I just had to get it out. I understand everyone has different opinions and I respect that. But don't talk about things you don't know about.

I've never owned a dogo and am pretty sure I won't ever because here in Alabama where I hunt, sometimes it's so thick you might not be able to get but 300yards and have to turn your catch dog loose and take 30 min to crawl on your belly on to them it would not be smart in any kind of way to pay 1000 dollars for a dog that the odds are against him on the day he is born and 2 100$ pits will do a fine job but its a few people that like them just not for everybody

I don't care what kind of breed it is. It just so happened to be a dogo in my case. That's like me getting to yeller dogs and saying they suck. I don't know anything about them yeller dogs, so really my two cents don't mean jack squat.

I call a great cd a good dog, if it catches great. Size, breed, color don't mean squat. My partner had a patterdale we called a cd. I do prefer a good lookin bulldog, but if it catches ill take it with me. Even the ugly ones. I wanna catch pigs, bottom line what ever I gotta pull off of em don't mean jack to me. Jmo

I hate Fords! They are the worst at cars and trucks! Nobody needs a Ford when you can go get a Dodge...

Funny you bring that up. I was actually looking at fords today lol. Thinking of switching over from the dodge. But back to the topic. This ain't about catch dogs. It's about people talking about something the know nothing about.

Idiots like that are why I only get on a few select forums, and definitely why I stay AWAY from places like Facebook.

It's about people talking about something the know nothing about. The point is that you can use what ever you want and nobody has to like it. You buy your dogs, you feed your dogs, you hunt with your dogs, and if they don't like then they don't have to ever hunt with your dogs. I like my Dogos and I think pits are amazing catch dogs. I just like the Dogo better and I like Dodge trucks. You don't have to like either one of them. When someone starts bashing either one I just don't care. I will ride in a Ford and I will gladly hunt behind a pit but I won't own either one of them because that is my choice. I don't understand people that feel the need to just bash other people. I guess they have miserable lives and want others to suffer. I just feel sorry for them. If you have a Pit I sure hope that you love your dog and think they are the best. I am allowed to love my dogs too.

Awe hell dude probly mad cause he got showed up by a dogo. I have never hunted with one. I understand what original breed intent was and as long as it holds true to that they should make fine dogs. But this is speculation. I agree 2 dogs do not represent a breed.
