What's the pros and cons of wrapping carpet over plywood for the dogbox roof? I've always just had plywood or diamond plate. This new box that I got is an odd size and the plywood is just a hair short of covering it with one piece, so I gotta use two. I was thinking of covering it with carpet and it'll look better than having two pieces for the roof. But I've never used carpet and neither has my buddies. Does it hold a smell, moisture, and I'm sure after the sun and some blood on the carpet, it's probably not looking the best

well sounds like you just answered your own question's .  but a good quality carpet like they use in boats would be fine , it can be hosed off regularly  .

agreed with outdoor carpet or carpet for boats. i used 3M spray glue. u apply a film to both mating surfaces and let it set for a few minutes and then compress the carpet to the wood. don't worry bout high temps causing the glue to debond, i used the glue to mate foam to peg board for my pelican boxes for tool boxes for aghanistan and the temps in the hanger was over 120 degrees F n i didn't have a problem with the foam separating from the peg board.

Thanks Charles. I guess I have another project added to the list. Do you think I need to put a sealer on the wood or just put the carpet on as is?

If u can, seal it from the bottom. The glue and carpet will seal the top n sides. I would use treated plywood if got it available

Mr. Morris would you like to mention that you did half of those ugly welds lol. You know me, I like to have good looking boxes and hunting trucks that look like they can be people's daily drivers
