For those of you that have hunted with me or know me, you know I like and own open plott dogs. But, my favorite dog is my 9 year old Catahoula dog (gyp). Ive been wanting to get her bred for the last 5 years or so but just never would because I didn't want to be without her. She is my favorite dog to hunt with and has found more hogs than I can count. I tired to get her bred last time she came in, but it just didn't work out. I went out to feed tonight and saw red drops all over her kennel floor. I've got another dog picked and I called to owner tonight to make final plans. Im going to take her to the dog in the next couple of days and start introducing. I sure hopes this works so I can get some pups and start hunting her again. I have not hunted her in the last 6 months or so, wanting to protect her and make sure this breeding happens.

I am breeding her to a grade red cur dog owned by one of my hunting buddies (Edgar Jeter). Edgar's male is line bred off of his late Grunt dog. This red cur dog has good nose, a lot of range, and is above average on grit. Both dogs have similar traits and should compliment each other well. My gyp has a medium to hot nose, long range and a lot of bottom, and is a real tight bay dog that's not afraid to get rough. What I like about her most is her heart. I cant tell you how many times she has been cut up bad but stays bayed or stays running. She loves to roll over and bay again. She is one of those dogs that you better catch her when you get to the hog or she will be gone again. She is also super smart.
