I lost a great friend this week. I normally carry the tough guy mentality, but I have tried to write this a couple of times. Pepper was the best dog that I have ever hunted with much less owned. Pepper was truly hard to call a dog, he was so much more.... Pepper could find them, catch them and train pups, not mention he could have easily been a house pet (my boys asked me to bring him home last Saturday). Pepper had the good gentle nature that is so hard to find. He would sit, stay and give you five, a friend or stranger. When I hunted with strangers he would stay between us until the bay started then he would be gone in a bolt, he could not help himself....He would hunt his bottom off with his known friends (REID and HARRY mostly). Pepper took scars for all of his friends at one time or another....Pepper would mind family/extended family members that he trusted like no other, the list was not to long. Pepper would listen to Harry and his boys as well as he listened to me and my boys. He was the best tattle-tale that I have ever ran across (no deer, armadillos or cows unless I asked him). God blessed me with a "Pepper Jr" but he has big shoes to fill....
