Just curious if anyone owns one, and if so what their opinion is of them??
How quiet/loud are they compared to a Ranger? How do you like the transmission and no belts?
Any info appreciated.

Lacyman, does the unit you own have a transmission or belts? The main thing that is attracting me to the pioneer or the big red is the transmission/drive shaft and no belts... I don't know how long the units with the transmission have been on the market.
How quiet/loud is your unit compared to a Ranger?
Thx!

It has the transmission, to me they seem relatively even in loudness. I don't see much difference there

I agree Colby, I don't think your big red is any louder than a ranger and it is just a capable/comfortable.

Over 6k miles on my big red with no issues. I will say the big red needs a snorkel kit to help keep dust out the breather. Pioneer is basically the same just a lil narrower.

Colby, does the big red have a "low"? Same question for the pioneer if anyone knows. My brother-in-law had a rincon (same transmission as big red and pioneer) and only complaint was he had to put a gear reduction in it bc of no low.

It does not have a low gear. I run stock tires and have never had an issue with not having enough power. One thing to think about is the top speed on a big red is 42. What is top speed on a rincon. In order for it to run faster the gears have to be higher giving it less low end power. Couple that with taller tires and u have even less power. I have toted 2 adults 3 kids and 5 dogs across a very wet freshly disced field dragging the belly and never ran out of power to sling mud.

The pioneer has a low range, and is only 60in wide. Plan on buying one in a few months!

Only question I have is what was he going through!?!? I ve never had issues going through mud holes in any honda I ve owned. If I would buy a 4 wheeler it would be the foot shift. I m not big on the electronic shifters they have now a days

Kinda like you hear about people buying a 6.0 psd then having to throw more money at it to get it running good.......damn thing shoulda been that way when it rolled off the lot!

Justin pretty well answered the question for me. I am seriously considering the pioneer myself. That transmission has had me sold since the early 2000's on the rubicon. I don't think I will own another Ranger in my lifetime, but I have an 08' 500 for sale if anyone is interested! 245 hrs and red in color $5500 obo
