Here's one that I slapped together...  To keep it from rolling, I attached a 2 X 6 that was cut to fit the roundness of the barrel & I attached the 2x6 to the barrel using 2" lag screws. I also drilled about 10 1/4" holes in the bottom on the barrel for drainage in case water did get in the barrel.

I've got 5 houses like the design in these pics. They give an idea of how I like dog houses. Very light weight, roofs come off for easy cleaning/stuffin with hay/moving just by taking out a few screws. Plus they can jump on top to eat or chill in the sun. I have a divider wall inside them that's helpful for keeping out rain/snow and it also keeps the hay packed in so it doesn't fall out every time  the dog goes in/out....so the 1st door is kinda a porch and the second door is actually the den. They measure maybe 4' long, 2' wide, and prob 30" tall(just guessing)

My next setup will be plastic barrels,,,,,they are prob cheaper and easier to make...

I forgot I got a big city trash can the kind that's 4 or 5' long with wheels and lid. I like it cause it's super easy to clean and dogs can get way back in it out of the weather. Kinda tacky but so are my neighbors lol
