have any of you guys ever made your own feeder light?  Im looking for ideas on how to make a low budget motion activated solar feeder light.

I looked at home depot when i was there earlier and they had what i was looking for just dont wanna spend 80 bucks.

Im pretty handy with wiring and coming up with ways to make stuff work, but im at a loss with this one.

Go to lowes or Home Depot and get the light for your walkway with the photocell in it. It will come on when the sun goes down and turn off when it comes up. They cost around $10. Put them on each side. Have them on two feeder work great

I use a circle tent light that has a clip in the middle so u can clip it to the bottom of the feeder.

Thought about that, but those motion sensors run off 120ac so not sure it will work.  Think im gonna run down to radio shack and have a look around and see what i can come up with.

What about robbing a motion sensor from ad old trail cam? Its the same work principle as the hm motion sensor, but we know it works off of dcv, then get you some red led lights and wire them up

Actually thought about that after i posted.  Gonna take one apart when i get home and see what the insides look like and may just mount the light on top and wire a solar panel up and use the unit as the housing etc..

that lighting system in the ammo can is a nifty idea and keeps the internal electrics water tight. I got several 50cal and 5.56 can laying around, may try to build 1.

Saw those on you tube and thought about it.  Seems like that could get expensive quick.

I found some motion activated lights at wal-mart they are 20 bucks and take 4 d batteries. They are black and attach to the side of a feeder perfectly! super bright and throw about a 10ft circle of light on the ground. I dont remember the name right off hand but they are in a clear plastic package and are advertised as outdoor house motion lights. Me and a buddy use them and they work great. Also if you take a peice of scotch tape and put over the lens then color over it with a red sharpie it wont even spook anything as it looks like an infer red light.
