I've hunted plenty of hog farms over the years. While it's fun, I enjoy watching dogs work where hogs are scarce and run like hell. You're more than welcome to come out and show me how to catch 10 or 20 a hunt.

If we hunted 100 times we would catch more then a 100 hogs I guess for Yall that hunt and only catch one hog a hunt that is hard for y'all to understand but there a people on this site that catch 10 to 20 hogs on some hunts prolly even more then that on a contest weekend we catch around 50 and to be honest prolly 75 percent of the people on this site don't even hunt 100 times a yr
I'd love to have y'all come over here to the marsh with y'alls dogs and hunt 100 times and catch more than 100 hogs. It all boils down to WHERE you hunt, the type of terrain you hunt, the type of dogs you run, and if it's an area that's pressured a lot or not where the hogs adapt to hearing dogs and running like holy hell. I've had dry runs. Doesn't mean my dogs suck. Sometimes the hogs just aren't there. Of course if you hunt high fence areas, and ranched where there's hog infestations like roaches....you're gonna get on quite a few (or at least I'd hope so.) While I'm sure it's fun to take home 10-20 per hunt, or 50-75 or whatever, I personally like the challenge of where and how we hunt. The dogs have to work a lot harder as well, which makes me even more proud when we get to drag aeven just couple out the swamp.

Yes good spots spoil hunter ..lol because i hunted 2 of my places this weekend an the 1st spot i can hunt all day on hogs an the second spot i hunted was so thick with briars it turned into a hard hunt so i felt i got spoiled for pine trees! see I do hunt louisiana from lower south around houma, la to winnfield,la an i know it's best to cold cut dogs in on races in Louisiana an a rcd or 1 catchy dog added to a pack helps shut them runners down..

Red, it used to be like that around here. It was nothing to go catch 4 to 6 hogs in a few hours and go home... I'm afraid those days are long gone.
Enjoy it while you can.

I can say I know where red79 is coming from as does Mike and several others. I won't speak for everybody else, but I know when I get to spot where hogs are plenty and dogs are hot, I'm gonna catch a sounder, on the other hand, most of the spots I currently have are hunted out and most people who've run them won't strike the first hog. What i mean is, y'all are both right for Pete's sake.

I'm just as happy going run a hog for four or five hours and catch it then I would to ride around and catch 20 on one hunt. To me as this is only my opinion it takes a better dog to run one for several hours than to have a dog and ride around and see a hog and turn them on it and they catch it 100 yards later and repeat til you get tired and go home not much good dog work in that. But to each his own

Hey bubba we catch as many as we don't catch and and put as many on the back of the truck as we don't. But I can say this with honesty it's all talk on the Internet what if I said I won a hundred hands of poker out of a hundred to a gambler he would giggle so when you say that on here when every one on this sit hunts and I been hunting since the 70 ds I can say you are asking to be joked on. My dogs ain't nothing fancy but we can hunt em and see what's up let the chips fall where they may. I can say if we drop them ten times you would b god of the hog dog world if you got ten for ten jmo

I can see catching 3-5 hogs a hunt in good country......we've done it a few times.
But to log 100 hogs in 2 months......you'd still need to hunt 3 times a week and average a little better than 4 hogs a hunt with NO dry runs. Thats assuming you have Plenty of dogs for back up to replace the ones that get cut and are out for a week or more.
That's a pretty tall order.
I guess if you can hunt 4-5 times a week it would make the numbers more manageable.
