Proven suscide catch dog, has the scars to prove it.
Boy I tell you what, that gets me all worked up when I hear or see people say that. Yes I know dogs get cut and have scars but it don't mean that they are great catch dogs nor does it prove anything.

Eh I dunno I know some damn good catch dogs that catch ear every time that have their fair share of scares |

one of our best catch dog gets more cuts from running through the briar bushes then catching hogs, I guess he is one of the wanna bees tho, cause he don't get cut up all the time, lol. when he catches he knows how to move his body and position his self were he is not gonna get cut, my thought is a good catch dog is a smart catch dog, and will learn where and how to catch and hold with out getting cut. just my input tho

I agree Heavyhitter but some of these no. 2 holes where the hogs go give a dog no room to maneuver and they will take a poke now and again. Even the good ones.

That's funny Dodgegirl. I think the same thing when I read that kind of stuff. It gives them away right off. The wanna be thought process and use of hunting lingo makes me laugh and sometimes ticks me off.

In my opinion it means the dog is stupid. I have dogs that aren't scared to catch and have plenty of heart. But I just say they a good catch dogs and have a lot of heart. Sound way better then a " suicide catch dog". It also screams dog peddler in my book. |

Just because a dog catches the ear don't make him a class act,needs to know how to stay out from in front of a hog there's more to it than just grabbing a ear

That's exactly my point! Chances are it's not great! It has no form and lacks common sense and knowledge! Generally get clumsy and more likely to get cut! If some one is selling a jam up suicidal catch dog, he must not be good at suicide because he's for sale! Which means he's alive! |

Maybe they caught the dog popping pills or trying to cut its own throat. Could explain the scars.
