I have the income to justify buying a Polaris or a Kawasaki for the first time in life, but can't stand the thought of buying one of them things. I'd like to ideally buy a frame buggy or something and customize it to my desires.
Most go carts have crummy ground clearance, but the body fits what I'd like more or less. If any of y'all have some idea what I'm looking for or have built your own hunting rig before, post up some pics and help me out.
BRK on here has an old ford ranger that he's totally chopped and redone. It's awesome.
Maybe he'll post some pictures.

Terry, why not take go-cart n start ur build off that frame? upgrading and relocating the engine, "possibly using a 4x4 atv eng/xmsn" if a rear mnt eng is not what u want, putting live axles under it. Iv thought building my own atv but wasnt sure what platform i wanted to start with, but once u said using a go-cart frame, i just drew up an idea in my head but im not sure using live axles or if/rs. Id have to build everything else then look at my option n placement of the axles. Iv got it in my head, i just gotta throw it on paper before i start

Man I'm a terrible mechanic and not super smart but I usually learn pretty quick by busting knuckles and trial and error.
I like your idea.
This is what BRK built so far and I'd like to go with kinda the same idea but with a tracker or samurai frame engine and drive train.
I want 4 wheel drive, room to hual my kids and room to weld  platform for dog boxes on to it all while still maintaining a small size to get around trails.

It's a work in progress, I have the 4 hole dog box built all I need is to have the seat put on the plywood and mount on top of box for seating on the bed. Then I'm thinking of putting a winch with a swing arm on the rear of the bed to haul big hogs up on the bed. I would like to also put a bar high across the hood to chain a dog or 2 on the hood for large ranches.

What about an old cj2 willis jeep? Busting knuckles n trial n error is how learned growing up. Terry if i was closer to ya, id crank up the torch n welder n help ya out, but its a 2.5hr drive n couldnt get much done in 1 day except laying the idead out on paper. The tracker/samurai would b a good frame to start off of, but if u can read blue prints n a tape messure n machinist rule, u could build it from scratch using square, round or c-channel for the frame, then u could put the pwr train in any location u want.

I found a pretty sweet little Toyota and a nice 87 jeep Cherokee that either may fit the bill for now, but ultimately the wife will win and I'll buy her a polaris

T-Bob...I am not 100 percent sure where I saw a flat black single cab Toyota...the older style...it was for sale and already had a flat bed on it...I think it is on the side of hiway 36 between west Columbia and Brazoria...
