Don't feel like you are the first person this has happened too. I believe most dogs need a "getting use to" period. Some dogs get use to faster than others. If a dog has been owned and handled by one person their entire life, a new owner, new places and new dogs can take a while. If he has only had them two days and they are not hunting yet, I would not be alarmed. I think most of us have experienced this before. I've been on the other end. Got a dog from a guy, fist time out he would never leave the wheeler. I was so mad I could have killed him. Second time out (two weeks later) a totally different dog. Both new owner and previous owner need to know a new dog can take a short period to get comfortable. On the other hand, there are some dogs out there that don't care who they are with or where they are, they just go hunting.

That makes since, I did notice that when I was into game dog in my teenage years. Only thing is guy doesn't want to do trial period so I'm picking them up. Them hounds don't deserve a bullet. Seen to much out of them. Wish I didn't have to move so I didn't have to put my hounds threw this.. thanks

I hear of that happening a lot. Thing is, a lot of curs are on the shy side, and when they go to a new home/environment with a new handler, and new other dogs....they have got to have time to adjust to it all in a lot of cases. I know there's the handful out there that you could send anywhere and they'll get straight to business as usual, but in most cases, the dogs need ample time to adjust to their new situation. People get so impatient sometimes and wanna take the dog out the next day before the dog has time to adapt, let alone get an idea who his new handler is, and the dog doesn't perform right.
Also, in more rare occurances, I have seen a couple dogs that will range out and hunt great for one person, but that same dog even after given time to adjust, just flat out won't hunt with someone new. Said dog was sent back to the original owner, and went right back to hunting well.
All in all, I feel that in any venue, when a dog switches homes and handlers, the new handler should give that dog some time to adjust. This seems to be a rule of thumb for dogs period, not just hunting dogs.

Yeah with this line of curs we run you gotta do like a month trial on most of these started dogs. They're shy and kind of one owner dogs so they need time to acclimate to the new environment. Dogs are creatures of habit. if I were you I'd tell the guy to exercise a little patience and feed em treats for a week before taking em out again. Try that instead of picking em up!

Every body has had it happen . I sold a dog to a friend for a grand that was ajam up silent strike dog every dog in his yard was his kin and came from me. The dog did not eat for a week and walked by truck every hunt that week even though he had hunted a hundred times with this guy and was raised with his pack. I went to get him bought barbacoa taco on way gave it to him and he hunted his butt off all weekend. I kept him till he got kilt he turned out to be one of the best dogs i have ever raised , so even though he cost me a grand when i needed it i would not have taken 5 grand for him the night he died. I miss him on every hunt. "RIP HUD" . If he is just a help dog i would not worry about it they are like bull dogs they are a dime a dozen not to be mean but i have never and will never keep a help dog in my pack period!! .

I traded a guy a gyp that is a jam up dog for a tracking system. The guy called the next week said she wouldn't even bark at a hog or go to a bay. We went and picked her up and she went out the next week and she struck a hog for me I guess its the way it goes.
