What are you all using to clean the kennels other than just water?
I'm thinking a good periodic cleaning with some kind of solution would be beneficial, but I'm hesitant to use bleach because of the septic system. I've seen some products on vet supply sites, and am curious as to there effectiveness.
Anyone have any experience?

Simple Green is biodegradable and should not effect the septic. There is another, very similar, industrial product that I used to get in 35 gal totes for ~1/4 the price of SG, but I do not remember what it was called. I got it from an industrial cleaning supply warehouse in south Houston when I lived down there.
I don't have septic so I just use bleach....

I have been using my pressure washer to clean the concrete and then putting out powdered laundry soap.

There is a cleaner that is pink. Moo? ? something. Safe for use around animals and wont harm your septic. I buy it from wal mart in small amounts. I delute it and it works fine. I use it around the house. Good stuff. 4 bucks a gallon.

I use bleach. Is the septic tank the same as the one your house is using? If so does anybody in your household use bleach in the wash, toilets?

Thanks for the replies. I haven't thought about simple green. I use bleach. Is the septic tank the same as the one your house is using? If so does anybody in your household use bleach in the wash, toilets?
No...I installed a seperate system just for the kennels. Lots of poop going in this thing, and I don't want to risk upsetting the process if possible. So far, it's working great.

Hey Bryant, I use Kenl'L-Lan. I get it from KVVET.com You can get it in 1 gallon containers and it mixes at a ratio of 1 to 128 or 1 ounce to 1 gallon of water. It smells pretty dang good and best of all it kills Parvo virus. You also don't have to rinse it off. Just let it dry and move on. The dogs can walk or lay on it right after it is applied. I just pressure wash the kennel and then spray it down.
I know Tractor Supply sales a similar product for about $8.00 less but I haven't tried it yet.
