So I ordered a go pro and a collar from southern style. Had a buddy that used one....I liked the footage he got. I also think it can teach you a bit about your dogs. Anyway, that same buddy lost his camera off his dog but that was with a home made base....still....I don't think the problem was the base.

Anyone running a go pro on their dog? Made any modifications to try and make sure you don't lose the camera?

I have thought about using a very short wire/shock cord....maybe even super glue on the mounting point.

What about the actual mount? I mean where the camera attaches to the mount? Did you do anything specific?

I posted a link to the southern style collars in the video section on here. There is small cable that should have came with ur go pro that u can run thru the lead loop on the collar for a backup incase the mount breaks or a screw comes out or anything.

Here's the link http://www.southernstylecutgear.com/#!cutgear/c235j it is the last one on the page at bottom.

What bout attaching a piece of 550 cord to the camera. If the mount breaks or the attachment point to the housing breaks, the 550 cord will at least keep the camera n housing tied to the collar

Here is another link.

http://www.southernstylecutgear.com/#!product/prd1/1436089631/gopro-cut-collar

The one I saw that Jessica and Joey had had a small steel cable run thru the go pro. It had a little hole or something on the corner I think. That cable went thru the D ring behind the camera mount. U can see the ring in the pics.

I will be honest here... I hate the GoPro. That's why it's on a collar now. I did nothing special but bolt it to the collar. If it gets broke off then no big deal. I am in search of something I can wear on my head that is better than the GoPro... Anybody know of any?

Have u looked at the garmin virb. Not sure if it's better or not. It looks smaller. 1080P but it also has the fisheye lens like the go pro. The fisheye helps get wider shots and keeps u from missing the action but at 10 steps looks like 30 to me. Main thing I don't like about these things. I don't own either so my opinion probly ain't worth much. May be worth looking at.

Well....the videos I've seen when mounted on dogs ain't to bad.

If you go to you tube and punch "rocket hog doggers" into the search bar....that's not a bad video.

I also think they can give you some insight into your dogs. Bay style....do they get gritty, etc. That dog in that video we all thought bayed real loose and wouldn't put his mouth on a hog. You see in the video...he is pretty loose but at one point when the hog breaks, he puts teeth on the hog to stop it.

I'm gonna give it a try anyway. Also...one of the things I like the most is the wifi. With your iPhone you can actually pull footage from hunt, nearly live (3 second delay) footage. I'm really interested in that. Talk about an edge!

I agree! It can/will give you some insight as to what said dog is doing... It will make you sea sick watching it though. LOL. I am just looking for something better to wear on my head to record bays and catches.

Got my camera today and been tinkering with it. Testing out the battery life while it's in the wifi mode.

I've got to say...I'm pumped about trying it out. That wifi with the app on your iPhone is awesome....from what I see so far  Grin

It's a 3 second delay (you can adjust) and it shows "LIVE ACTION" (turtle man reference)....anyway....can't wait till my collar comes in so I can give it a try.

Ok....so check this out  Grin

The wifi app...you can use from ANY PHONE!!

Meaning....if you have the camera name and password, you can see live feed from ANY PHONE!

You can be sitting at home watching your buddies dog hunt!!  Shocked

Also....this app does give the option of "camera locate". What it does is make the camera beep real loud. Just in case the camera does come off....you can walk your dogs track and listen for the beep (till the battery runs out). So that's a little bit of security.

This thing is cool.
