I was wondering how many different breeds of hogs make up the ferral hog population. If any of you know with any certainty of a breed that was let loose, escaped, trailer wreck, or even free ranged. Ive hunted all over OK and TX and its interesting to see the different size, shapes, and colors of hogs. Also if you have any unique pics of ferral hogs that resemble more domestic than russian influence.

You got some Russian in a few of these hogs as well as some Duroc I would believe

lol we caught about a 400# bluebutt in our trap in ola a few years ago . I'm sure he bred a few sows .

iv got a sow that has a lot of duroc, iv seen some with Hampshire, Yorkshire, Russian, pot belly

What breed causes them to be "mule footed". I've caught several in south east OK that were mule foot.

I would bet there is atleast a lil bit of blood from every breed ever raised in the state running wild somewhere around .

a domestic mule foot hog, causes the mule footed wild hogs. or it could be released/escaped domestic mule footed, turned feral. |

Most of the heritage breeds is probly a given. Lots of those were free ranged years ago.

We raise domestic hogs on the family farm, and from time to time a hog will get out they rarely run off too far. But if it takes us a while before we find them within weeks they start changing growing thicker hair longer teeth slimming up. Its amazing how fast they become feral, after being domesticated all their lives.

Caught a few waddled hogs back home in Florida. Most of these were in charlotte county. Both blacks and reds. I reckon they were of original Spanish blood.
