This new year has not been kind so far where hog hunting is concerned for me. We have had a hard time finding pigs. My luck is changing tho I think. I talked to a man by the name of Lee Mccoin over a year ago after I had been to his place. He had some good looking yella dogs. We talked about his dogs and the fact he had raised them for years using them on cows and pigs. I eventually got around to asking to buy one of his pups that was walking around us about 12 to 14 weeks old. His answer was he didn't sell dogs he only gave them to friends and family.

I saw him and spoke with him briefly a few times over this last year. I met his brother and worked with him some. His brother and I had talked a few times about lee's dogs during conversation about my dogs and running hogs. Just normal conversation while taking a break or something.

Last night my luck began to change. I got a call from Dallas, Lee's brother, and he asked me if I wanted one of Lee's dogs. I jumped on it and said yes. I went down this morning and picked her up. Dixie is one of the same pups me and Lee spoke about a year ago. She is a lil over a year old and has been worked lightly on hogs and cows. She has not really been hunted so I don't know how she is gonna do there. But she is from a working line top and bottom. I am real excited and honored to have this dog. She may not be papered up but should be bred right. I have wanted a decent bred yella dog for a while and just never had the money to get one. For him to give me this dog is a big deal. I really hope she turns out to be a good one.

Meet Dixie.

Thanks for the flowers y'all. She is warming up nicely so far. I think the cur acclimation process is going pretty good so far. Went out to feed and she came bouncing and getting in the puppy play stance wiggling all over. So I fed her and gave her plenty of petting and happy talk.

I have never owned one. I have hunted with a few and those were one or the other never in the middle. I hope she is a good one. She is warming on up tho. Gets the wiggles when she sees me and starting to bark when I come home. I was always told when they start barking at boogers that's when u know a dog is home. We ain't there yet but should be soon
