Yesterday was like waking up on Christmas morning. It was my first time to hog hunt horseback. YelladogWreckingCrew spent the night in the driveway with his horse and dogs (he had a nice clean comfy bed for him in the house, but he said he liked his truck just fine) lol, ain't gonna twist your arm!! But was happy to have him along!! His mule... I mean, horse

, Pablo, my horse Partner, catch dogs Redneck and F1, our dogs Rowdy and Roxy, and his dogs Rose and BB were our team for the morning.
I love taking pictures on morning hunts, and since Matt came along, I tried my best to kick back and get some good shots of the hunt. Jared and I switched off riding the 4 wheeler with the catch dogs, and riding Partner.
Rowdy struck the first hog not 10 minutes after we parked and was unloading everything. Pablo wasn't saddled, luckily Partner was so off Jared and I went after the dogs. Dogs had the hog bayed about 160 yards from the truck, and on top of Partner I had a birds eye view of what all was going on in all that salt grass. That pig decided he wanted to go for a little morning run AFTER Jared cuts Redneck loose (dogs were bayed still). Off they go like a freakin parade with the catch dog running behind him glad he gets to be in on the action for once. Partner is a little old and stiff- takes him a while to get loose and limber, so I tried to take it easy on him, but get there somewhat quick. Jared got there in no time on the 4 wheeler and its a good thing because this hog had some razor blade type wetters that durn sure gave Roxy a goodun on her shoulder. Jared stuck that hog, and off we go to continue getting everything ready for the hunt.
We hunted the rest of the morning, not really picking up much. We eased our way back to another side of the ranch, where we decided to stop and sit for a while and let the dogs work and get away from us some. We were just sitting there talking, having a good ol time and Rowdy walks into this broom-weed brush (or whatever it's called) about 30 feet from us and bays up. We all look at each other like whaaaaat??

Then we hear a grunt, and everyone comes a running. The hog breaks out of the brush and makes a dart for it, while we chased her down, heard them bayed up again and Jared and Matt cut catch dogs loose, then here we come to the bay.
All in all was a fun hunt. Here's some of my pictures from the morning. The boys were looking at me goofy because I had a big ol camera in their faces while they were trying to hog hunt, but I love taking pictures, I LOVE morning hunts, and working with a sunrise. Speaking of, time for a nice cup of coffee to watch this morning's sunrise. Ya'll enjoy!!
