The problem with dogos and any other breed for that matter is US the human aspect. In EVERY breed there is culls, and there is were WE as humans don't do our job and cull them. Hence passing off or breeding a cull because we spent too much for that cull, or know if we say we have X breed of dog that everybody wants or is in demand know we can sell those culls or culls pups for good $$$$$$$$. This is where people getting bad tastes in their mouths come from. The BIGGEST problem with dogos, and other high demand breed is the almighty GREEN PAPER we call a dollar!!!!

With that said I used to raise and hunt pits and AB's. I had some jam up ones as far as I was concerned, but got tired of them looking like earrings on some hogs. I was lucky and was given some jam up dogos and never looked back. Breeders in it just for the money are the problem. Not the breed(s). I have never had a dogo cross that I know of. I have hunted with some and the ones crossed with a cur or cat( not knocking anybody's  dogs) were culls to me, but they did what they wanted. The only cross I would consider if I was to cross one would be to a AB or pit, but then I have seen some bad ones of those also.

The most important advice I could give on this topic is this. FEED what you want and like and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. YOUR the one that has to be happy NOT those of us on here. GO HUNT!!! lol

Like I said in my post I have only had one Dogo and one cross. How many have you had ? I have been around a hand full more and have seen alot of re gripping.

CANTEX those are culls plain and simple. A true dogo like a bulldog or pit SHOULD not re grip. With that said can you honestly tell me you have never seen a pit or bulldog re grip ever? I know I have and culled them.

I agree. And funny that you ask that. A guy I know bought a dog(little female pit)from down your way that did re grip really bad. I forgot her name but she was a little dog.

If you have to train a dog to catch......... I am out.

I say Amen to that...

I just bred my Staghound to my Dogo/Pit. The Dogo/Pit took the Dogo side in looks and build but she has been a solid catch dog since I have owned her. We will see how they turn out...

I personally dont have anymore dogos at the moment my step dad has one 2 year old male left out of his hunting line and a 14 year old female outta it too but she's too old to breed I don't have any pictures of them but he's raised them for about 15 years, I've only had one not catch outta the countless one's we've had over the years, the ONLY down fall is they dont mature fast, we've never had a regriping issue with ours but most of our dogos have matured exstreamly fast for dogos, they normally mature aroun a year to two instead of the normal 3-4 years it takes for them to mature

Let me just state, I have nothing against the Dogo's.  I had them and was having a problemm with skin spots out here in the sandy soil.  I gave my gyp to Krystal at Ugly dog and she crossed her with AB and I got a pup which Bryant has now.
My Catdo has color, catchs like a dogo but is a little smaller with manners, this is what I like at my age.

Another thing is they have to show interest then you have to expose them.

Yes, I had heard and have been waiting on them, this will make the Catdo 3/4 dogo and 1/4 Cat.  Thanks for the update and waiting on pictures.

I've been around, hunted, trained, and culled my fare share of dogos, for the last 6 years - a few things I've realized - the ones that truly have it, will show interest by 8 weeks, it's your job to put time in the dog and let them have fun. They ARE very slow to mature and if you let them sit for a year like cur dogs without exposer, most will end up as culls.

Exposer, exposer, exposer - fun and enjoyable.
Freakin babies - big ol dogs like that.

Been wanting to breed to a fl cur for the last 2 years - one day, it just might happen Smiley
