Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Find you a cross between american bulldog and olde english bulldog. If you need a full grown dog, get him from a pound. Pound dogs are always hungry. If you get one from a litter of pups. Pick the pup that wants to tug on your pant leg, nip your hand, or wants to play rough. When you get a cross of these breeds, they aren't as crazy as some pits out there. I have 2 like this. They are actually protective of my kids towards strangers and they will rip the snout off of a 150 pound hog. Literally. I have a white one and a brindle and white one you can see in action on my facebook page-rollingthunderec
. I breed a good gritty curr to a line of sporting Pitts pretty dangerous have to muzzle but they would go ballistic on the baddest boar never used vest and never lost one to a hog but must know how to handle not for newbies.

I run a cur pit cross that handles like a dream, is nice and friendly to everyone, good with the other dogs, and hammers pigs. He has no quit and is in general one of the better dogs I have had. Hell, with the cur in him he will even hunt out a few hundred yards.

I have 2 cur pits also and i have a ambulldog/cur cross. They are a really good cross. Especially for Running catch dogs. Mine do the same thing, they range out far and I mainly use them for my strike dogs but they will also catch. I keep a old english and ambulldog mix on a leash because he's so squatty. If you get them with too much old english in them, they come out so short, they aren't very athletic. But, when they do get there, they are like a boat anchor. Also, they have a very short snout so its hard for them to bite bigger portions of the hog. I.E. the throat and back of neck. But when they grab a leg or snout, its over, somethings getting broke. I use my little bulldog for insurance. If i have a big boy in the brush giving my dogs some problems, i send that little mobster in and he just starts breaking legs.
