Anybody know how to get rid of ear mites? I'm assuming that's what it is because the dog constantly shakes its head.

Mineral oil works! Use a cotton ball and wipe a little inside for a week.

several times years ago I treated my dogs for ear mites as well as mange mites with ivomec (1% zimecterin). I used 1.5 cc's under the skin and a week later 1 cc and the following 7 days .5 cc's...all under the skin...

this is for 40-60 pound dogs...probably don't need the third treatment but I do it any ways...

just tried several different methods that were said to work on here and I tried some and they didn't work...then I remembered how I had done it and it worked just as the other times...

1/10 cc of Ivomec deep in each ear.  Repeat in two weeks.  Please note that you can do serious damage to the eardrum if you put Ivomec in the ear of a dog that has an ear infection rather than ear mites.  Know what your looking at.

I would put it on a cotton swab and then rub it on the ear. Dogs weren't a fan of us just pouring something into their ears. and yes, the ivermectin works as well.

I have been using this formula for over 30 years. Learned it from a big dog camp on the King Ranch in south Texas.

Mix distilled white vinegar and alcohol 50/50. Then add 7% iodine until it looks like stout tea. Put in a squirt bottle and squirt in the ear as needed. Once it gets in the ear rub it around a little. It will kill them right now.
