How often does it happen? what make this show up in these dogs, I have a friend who now has two of them that come from all yella dogs. Well a friend was selling out the other day and I picked this 11 year old male up from him. he said they have had this line of dogs for 20-25 years and had a couple of white pups and always culled the white ones bc of color. well he decided to keep this male out of the bunch and used him as a cow dog till he was 8 and then he has been set up on a chain ever since. we showed him a hog the other day and bayed really good, took him to the woods and stayed on a race for 2 hours! not bad for him being set up for a couple years and being 11. let see some pics of your white BMC if you have any!

Just another shade of yellow.

is this how "red" black mouth curs were made into there own category? what makes them turn out lighter than the others in the bunch?

It is genetics. It's no different than white labs. If a person wanted to they could breed for that trait until it started to express more and more often.

Is this also how throw back or "reverse" curs come about in a litter.  I know genes make him that way, but is it a defect or just a paired of uncommon or less paired genes put together to create black and tans and the lighter colored cur dogs that come out of several generations of straight yella black mouth curs.

I am no geneticist but I believe u are correct. If u have a trait that is dilute and u keep breeding these dogs that have that dilute trait eventually it will show up. Once it does it will continue to show from time to time. The colors that u see today that are rare at one point were common. Selective breeding diluted these colors making the now common yellow the dominant color. With the white dogs it isn't as much color as shade. A white lab is considered yellow just as a red lab is also called yellow. They are merely shades of yellow. In labs the determining factor as to if they have inferior genetics in these colors is the color of the nose and nails. A white dog with black nose eye lids and toes is a yellow. A white with pink eye lids nose and toes is called a Dudley and considered a defect. If u wanted to bring back the colored curs u could selectively breed useing color as a point and breed a conformation structurally and aptitude YBMC that was no longer yellow. There are breeders today that are selectively breeding based on color to have their rare colored YBMC. I have seen one that based on his own words was doing so for sure. Not saying he was not also looking at aptitude and natural ability at the same time.

keep breeding the lighter ones and they'll keep getting lighter. breed back to a black n tan or a leopard and it'll darken them up and maybe add a little more mask.

it's like the amount of spots on a dalmatian or the degree of black on a saddleback.

genetically, the dogs above are all the same color but with variation within. the number of spots or tendency of shade (white/yellow) is going to lean towards average for the greater breeding pool your dog belongs to. if you have a family of dogs that produces primarily light/white dogs your average will be lighter than for the breed as a whole.

 We've recovered 4 nilgai with our dogs.  They are very tough animals and are very tasty.  This particular one was shot in the front leg,  the dogs ran him a little over a mile before they got to him.
Here's another cool pic->

Iv had 2 "white" bmc dogs. 1 of them, his parents and grandparents were all yeller. The other 1, i think his momma was whiteish n sire was a lil darker yeller, but still an off white. I personally lime the white yeller bmc type, especially since they cant be confused with a "deer tan" buck skin bmc. Iv got 2 more off white (more white than yeller) but every pup came out yeller. They may lighten up or get darker as the get older.
