Most folks have natural wonders and local oddities in their region that stay hidden off the beaten path. Let's see what ya got. This is a local favorite since my childhood. Was open to the public years ago and the coolest swimming hole in the Piney Woods. I was driving through the private owned land the other day on business and circled around for a few snaps. Lil background on this crystal clear swimming hole ....it was a limestone quarry years ago and after the jest of the stone was harvested it filled up by way of natural springs. No plant life or fish can survive thus it holds crystal clear water that is visible as far down as you can free dive. Only water I have witnessed that is compareable was when I was in the military off the coast of Key West or the Caribbean. Welcome ladies and gents to the Blue Hole of Angelina County. Ebjoy     |

Holy crap that's a super pretty spot! There's a place I hunt on a lot that has one of the prettiest little creek bottoms in my area. Heck of a spot to really enjoy watching dogs line out a track, take my favorite little girl to catch a perch or two or go watch a meteor shower with just the wife and try to get lucky.  Dont have any pictures that do it justice but ill snap some next time I go out there. |

Well it might not look like much but this is my little slice of paradise despite the dang ol cow birds lol besides the family this is what I live for. This tank was build 100 yrs ago and is around 5 acres. I've had plenty of parties and is a hang out fort family and friends for awhile now. Also has a shooting range on the other side of the dam. Ebjoy Yellow Black Mask that place looks quite a bit like a place called the Blue Lagoon here in Huntsville, not sure how it got there but I'll try and get some pics when I get time |

Cool pics Myles, sounds like these small lakes are more common than you would think. There is one off of Stryker Rd. not too far out of the Corrigan city limits with clear blue water like that. They used to have parties out there back when I was in school. Wish I had some pics of it, havent been out there in 15+ years.

There's a place around kirbyville they call the clear ponds that are real pretty but the water ain't as clear as that

I think i know the place you are talking about brit. About 6-7 miles down on the left across from the sermon place? I was on a lease there and it had a crystal clear lake on it kind of in the middle of no where.

Could be more than one in the area, its been so long. Seems like this one was 3 or 4 miles down Stryker from 59 on the right and a short walk from the farm road. Could be talking about the same one though.

Man another one we use to go to was out in speechless ville we called it the rock pits. It wa basically an abandon rock quarry. It also has a pretty clear creek that we use to drive down to and jump in. It's been a few years since I've been down there I have heard the sheriffs had tried to close the place down. If it's still open I'll snap a few pics.
We used to go ride fourwheelrs and camp out at a place past marlin called falls on the Brazos. They made it to where you can't drive or ride atvs in the water. After that no one went out to the park any more and it got run down pretty quick.

Well I don't have a picture. But my dad used to take me out to a place where they would all party (around Jimmy's bar off 94) an it's was a dirty mud pond with a rope swing... I loved it though haha. Tons of rednecks swimming and showing off guns lol

I grew up in lufkin and been to the blue hole more times than I can count awesome swimming hole I live in Ore city now on lake of pines witch is another awesome place to fish swim and hunt around when I lived in lufkin we also spent a lot of time on the Neches river hunting fishing and playing east Texas is a awesome place
