My friend brought his pitbull over to try on his first hog. He's just under a year I believe and like 80# or a little better. Had one of my dogs baying it to try to get him excited about it. He took into it pretty well, only thing is he kept shaking his head and I guess regripping, I really want to call it chewing instead of regripping. Tried him again I guess about 10 days later, same thing. What do y'all think?? Is there a chance he will stop that or not really?? I know my feeling on it and I don't care for it much. Sooo.........

I was gonna say the same thing. Put him on a hog that will make him work to hang on, oughta fix him up when he realizes he can't be playin/ 1/2 assin it. |

I have some that will do that , a 80 lb hog my dog will brake it's legs or crush it's skull but ain't no better on a big hog 200 plus , all hold , no jacking around

There is a type of lead or tie out they make for patrol dogs that regrip like that... It is kinda like a bungee cord and u have the dog pull all the slack out, when he tries to regrip or chew its going to yank his ass back, its supposed to teach the dog once he gets a hold don't open its mouth...you could probably work him at the end of a chain and pull on the hog, keep it in a bind, once he goes to chewing or regripping you should pull the hog away, do it a couple times and if he keeps doing it dont let him try again for a few days so he will realize he ain't gonna get it back if he lets go..

I would be careful and take it slow with him and let his teeth set in, but yea bigger hog that can sling and drag him around would maybe help

I guess I need to read closer, didn't see he was under a year. I would be cautious about getting him slung around for now. I might just wait a lil and let him mature some more!

Am I reading that right? A pitbull under a year old that is already 80lb wow that is one HUGE apbt. Like already mentioned I would just be careful with his teeth.

Rednose, I haven't weighed my boy in about 7wks but he was a pretty lean 69# at 8 months. He has been bred for catchwork for a lot of generations. I have had Jeep/Rascal/Redboy for a lot of years before this and they were all under 50#. Trying something new!

I was mistaken on his age, the dog is 14 months old. He's not mine, I prefer a smaller cd like 40-50#. I would love to try him on a bigger hog to see how he would do but what I have is what I have, lol.  |

Oh I was not doubting him, I was just thinking out loud. I know there are some bigguns out there, and that is one of them. Man I would like to see him when he is about 3 and all filled out. |

Aint nothing wrong with trying something new. I saw a pic posted on here a while back of a real big good looking one. I personally don't mind the size though I have never had one that big. Yeah CutNShootHD I really like one of yours that you posted a while back, fine looking dog. In fact you have a couple of really good looking ones if I remember right. |

Thank u rednose, i liked them a lot too  unfortunately decided to find the lil female a new home cuz i dont really have need for a cd, my dogs are real rough and its lookin like if it dont kill em theyre catchin it, especially my male and a red gyp, theyre a team thats for sure. The male cd i used decided to get an attitude with 2 of my hunting partners, so he had to take an extended nap. Wasnt going to have that, he had never been a jerk before but i couldn't "see what happened next time." :/ |
