I've tried em, fill em up, 25 lbs, gone in 2 days and you have 25# plus of poop to clean up. My dogs eat wats in front of them until they explode

I've been working on a true auto feeder with timer. I'm just about finished wth my proto. I want to know if anyone's interested in them though.

I used to use them all the time, yea the dogs gorge themselves at first and you will go through an extra bag or two at the beginning but it will actually save you feed in the long run once they get used to it and will only eat what they want when they want here and there.

Care to go in a little more detail? I might possibly be interested. I was considering modifying deer feeders with pvc attached down side of the kennel into a mounted pan. Would rather have something a little more practical though. Haven't found much available retail wise (with adjustable feed amount and time)

I've done a bit of research and just started throwing stuff together after I drew my design together. The small one I am making now is able to hold 20lbs of dog food in the top it drops down into a shoot that's connected to a bowl. In having problems with my timer system. I'm using deer feeder timer right now but have to program it in seconds instead of amount of food.

Great for pups. When they eat their fill.....they will taper themselves off.
Like to ration my grown dogs to control healthy body weight for each specific dog.

Think it kind of depends on the dog. All my yellow dogs are on automatic feeders and they ration it well. They don't gorge themselves or eat more than they normally would. They just pick at it here and there as needed. The catch dogs however got kicked off the auto feeder because they got to fat to move. Cuts down on work load, feed three every day, and the rest once a week. Automatic rationed feeder might be a good idea for the CD's though. Anthony
