My cousin had a dog get cut by a boar Tuesday across the ribs.thursday she started getting sick so fir morn he took her to the vet.she died today.the vet said it was blackleg.he said  tetnus and blackleg lived in the ground and the hog probably had the germ on his tusk from rooting in the dirt.he said ther was no shot or ne thing to prevent it that it was a freak deal. Said he had seen it two other times.ne one ever heard of this.

Had a 9 month old puppy die last night we bayed and caught 2 hogs  dogs left running another one he quit and came back to the wheeler layed down and died in about 10 mins time I gave him ivomec 2 days earlier that's all I can think of that might have got him

Very well could be, or could have gotten pounded between the hog and a tree. Seen that once, no cuts, just internal damage.

Just because you could not feel it does not mean it was not internal. There could have been injuries to the liver, spleen, and other vital organs that hemorrhaged with no signs of trauma visible to touch or sight without an x ray. Sorry for your loss either way.

I've heard of it but don't know much about it other than it is fast. dog gets cut and less than a week its dead. Not much you can do even if detected early. just one more thang a houndsman has to pray his dogs don't get.
