If the owner gave them permission what can I say besides ok. If ur not paying for the rights to hunt a place u can't say anything. Not rightfully anyway.

If a landowner ask another person to run a place that's his right. I won't try to gain permission to a place someone else hunts but if a owner ask me to run I'm can't say I won't. I hunt farms that several folks hunt. It sucks sometimes but the farmer wants the hogs gone and with multiple hunters they stand a better chance of getting someone to come as soon as they see sign.

Just be cause a landowner gives you permission to hunt a piece of property does not mean you are the only one he gives permission too. So be glad you got permission and hunt on. I get tired of people that belong to a lease and think they the only one that can hunt hogs on it everyone that pays to hunt on the lease should have the same right! The same way with ranches if the land owner want to give more than one guy permission that's his right and he should be respected and be thanked for giving you permission!!

Just hope you have the better dog Smiley
I have permission to hunt some spots that some of my buddies hunt an we never have a problem. Sometimes we go together sometimes we don't. When we hook up and go together it's a lot more fun and we do catch better pigs and get them out quicker. Heck why not ask if they want to hunt with you one day, if he's a prick about it so be it. His loss. "Do unto others as you would want done u to you" Wink

I don't see why u say this. If the landowner ask u to run it he has a reason. Maybe he don't like the other guy but wants to make sure he has someone to run before he says get off. Maybe like some of the spots I hunt the hogs are tearing up crops. Everyone has different schedules of work and life in general. If the hogs are causing damage and he calls joe and he can't come so he calls Larry no go he calls Bruce and he says let me at em.

In these instances u are providing a service to him and if u can't provide that service at the time u can't fault him or the man that can. Remember u are a guest on his place not the other way around.

Well put Shotgun. We are on the landowner's time. Some places we used to hunt, the landowner had kids whose friends ran dogs or in laws who had buddies that ran dogs, so we'ld wait until we had the go ahead. Best way to judge a pack of dogs is by hunting after others already ran the place. Sorts out the good ones. With everybody and their Uncle hunting now, sharing pastures for most of us is just a part of it.

If the landowner ASKS me to go hunt a spot I don't care whose else is hunting it because it's the landowners land and I'm gonna help him out. If they asking someone else to come hunt then the people thats already hunting it obviously ain't keeping them happy.  I just get in good with my landowners and keep them happy that way they don't give anyone else permission.

They had better have some damn good dogs fir the runners I hunt and when they get on the neighbors that dont like dogs and get me kicked off a spot is when I am going to be pissed.

What's even funnier is when someone tells somebody else "Ya so and so dont hunt anymore because I took all his fields from him". That just cracks me up!! ;-)

Had a situation not long ago where my boy who owns a lot of land allowed some kids to go hunt with him...he invited them but they were my guests. Well I put a stop to that real quick.  THIS IS WHY... the kids had good enuff dogs..no trashn but ruff as hell. Ruff dogs get hurt and so does hunter haulen to bay. Almost killed my friend (one of the kids). My job not only to keep the land owner happy but SAFE!! It turned out that the land owner was kinda upset with me UNTILL he realized I was looking out for him. We sence have even a better relationship and are planing on hunting when he gets some things knocked out. The kids have called him several times and have not gone hunting. Its more than permission to hunt its watching out for your friends even if it pisses some off. Tuff

I agree with you Reat. I have been hunting for many years in the same country. I know just about everyone that hog hunts around here and who hunts in what areas. Some of the places I hunt I got because Mo told Joe to call me. The biggest majority of them though, I have because I got off my butt and chased down land owners, phone numbers, knocked on doors, etc. Some of those places I hunt took years to gain access to by proving to the folks over and over that I would do right by them and by getting a reputation for doing right. Two examples: 1) I know some guys that have permission to hunt a place that is maybe 100 acres and 50 of it woods. I know every single land owner down there that borders it , the highway and three land owners. I also know for sure and certain that they don't want just anyone in their place. We all know 100 acres is about 5 minutes of hunting. Two of the land owners come to me at different times and ask were you down here last night? Do you know these guys that I caught on my game camera? No sir wasn't me, why do you ask? Well I saw a bunch of tracks, people and dogs, this morning. Two cameras I had up are gone and they were there yesterday. No sir, if I don't call it isn't me down there. He said well I know that and knew if you took them it would be for a reason. I told the second guy I didn't know who it was on his camera because he didn't have the picture with him. He could only give a description. It fit the guys I speak of to a tee. Why didn't they get his camera? Simple, They didn't realize it was there. He said you could tell by the picture they didn't know it was taking their picture. 2) Driving around scouting my spots and one of the land owners is coming out of his gate. I stop to BS a minute. I was red faced mad. Asked if was hunting down there last night. No sir, why do you ask? Well somebody drove in here and that's fine. What ain't fine is they drove their dually down into the bottom and got stuck. They rutted that S.O.B up ridiculously and then hot wired my tractor to go pull it out.  So now my place is a mess and they broke my tractor. Lucky for me I was talking to someone that morning and he told me they were down there that night hunting. The guy he was with owned the dogs and had permission to go get his dogs off this place. I told the land owner I would ask around and see what I could find out. I went straight to the dog owner and started up conversation. He finally told me that they were the ones that got stuck etc. I told him to get his azz over to the place RIGHT NOW because the land owner was there and pizzed off. I told him he was gonna fix the ruts and the tractor and whatever else the man needed done and he better hope the man didn't press charges. I told him I was gonna check in a couple of hours and if he hadn't made good that I myself was gonna call the law. I been hunting down in this bottom for years and I'm not gonna let some jackazz ruin it for me. Now I hunt with the same group of fellas on a regular basis. I have quite a few places that all tie in together in a pretty good area. Each one of them has the same situation. If we don't have permission to hunt it we can go get our dogs legally or they have nothing for hogs to hold up in. I have had people call me on several occasions and ask if I will come run hogs. When they tell me where their place is know who hunts the area. Numerous times I have said I can come but this person would be better because they have access to a lot of the country around you. I have gone and taken that hunter with me so they could meet the land owner and then they could hunt it from then on. I have taken young hunters that have proven to me that they wanted to do right that I took and introduced to land owners wanting hogs run. Their place wasn't in the area I hunted or anyone else for that matter and it allowed them to gather several spots in an area. I also don't want to be planning a special hunt and have it all lined out and get there to find out that some jackazz was there the night before and screwed it up. Land owners don't care how a problem gets solved as long as it doesn't cause problems for them, I get that. It's up to hunters to respect each other enough to work with each other. So many people now will get in on some little spot that might not even hold hogs and hunt every place around. It's usually the only spot they have so they hunt it 4-5 times a week, usually at night to keep from getting caught where they aren't supposed to be. That ruins the spot more times than not. Usually they don't have a dog one that's worth feeding and they run a hog for 15 minutes and quit. Or they get hogs caught and don't have the brass to crawl in and help the dog until they have the hog chewed down. The big hogs whip the tired dogs off after their ears are chewed off and then you have a educated race horse that butchers dogs when you get him stopped. These are the same people that haul cut up dogs around to show what a macho sport they do. Then they take those great dogs home and throw them in a pen with stagnant water if any, feed them a couple times a week, and don't tend to the cuts. It all boils down to character, you have it or you don't. We have plenty of hogs around here for everyone. There's also plenty of country if your not too lazy to get out and hustle. It might not happen over night, mine didn't. But I paid my dues. If your too lazy to do that your probably a detriment to the sport.

Good post.

I have had several folks ask me to come hunt the lil 80 or 100ac spots. When I tell them I can't until I speak with adjoining ground they get mad. Lol. Some of these places I would love to get into but I'm not gonna risk what reputation I have built for 1 hunt. I don't have the best dogs but they catch hogs. What I do have is extensive knowledge of what is and is not accepted on farms. I also have a reputation for killing every hog I get my hands on. I also have a reputation of not touching stuff that doesn't belong  to me.
