Not sure where to start lol.. I guess this is our first post for the year. We were all burnt out on tournament hunting this year and really have hardly hunted a fraction of what we normally do. Zan called us Thursday night and with some alcoholic persuasion Erik agreed to hunt the Battle of the Best this weekend. So we rolled up North Saturday morning with a trailer full. It was me, Van Dorn, Andersoncountydogger on the team with caseydejohn and Marshall mims as helpers. It was very fortunate that the weather on Saturday turned out cool and breezy as the dogs aren't really in very good shape this year. Honestly there was way too much chaos to tell the story in detail, we cast the first group of dogs and the dust settled at lunch catching 12 hogs. Regrouped and went across the road and caught 8 with some being pretty decent. Erik caught one sow that had been gut shot earlier that morning, we ran into the deer hunters who were tracking her later that day and got the full story. She ended up dying later in the trailer. So it's about 5 and we cross back over the road. Decide to cast again and we were neck deep in a swamp and hogs til almost 8:30. We finally just started catching dogs because we were tired of catching hogs. In the end and we put our hands on 33 different hogs on Saturday. There is no telling how many the dogs killed in the woods. Our best personal day. Sunday there wasn't much time. We turned out and had 4 caught in about 30 min with a a decent size saber tooth boar. After that the bottom dropped and it was a steady rain. We attempted to hunt a little more but it was pointless. We ended up catch 37 hogs for the 12.5 hours of hunting. Turned in 18 for the stringer and weighed in out heaviest five at 204, 201, 192, 190, 173. This was good for 1st place stringer and 2nd place heaviest 5. We won $1k for the first and $921 for 2nd as well as 4 buckles, 4 cut collars, 4 leads, &plaques. They mentioned that this will be a much bigger hunt next year as they will be sponsored. It will be one worth hunting in the future. It was good to hunt a tournament and genuinely have fun. Great weekend with good people and even better dog work. Enjoy...

Nice job fellas. Tony I figured it couldn't be too much longer before you and Big E caught 30 something hogs in a tournament and took home some cash and buckles. Wouldn't be the same if y'all didn't lol.

Man it's a collective effort, couldn't do it without any of the helpers or other members. Trust me when we say 30+ like that becomes more work than pleasure.. Casey's face and my hands look like we lost a hell of a fight with some cats! But it was a blast this weekend!!! I was just glad to get my young dogs in a bunch of hogs
