Went out with the crew for a run early Saturday morning since the weather was gonna be right . Turned the dogs out close to the river and there weren't hitting on much . Bout 30 mins in my Dogo and Plott with my buddies other 3 dogs were on something . Get close and see the dogs in some thick cane but still working a scent , notice the Dogo had a nice gash ( about 14 staples on the back of her neck and a whole on her jaw u could put a 50 cent pice in) then they winded again and they were gone . Bout 250 yards away something was caught making a god awful racket . Getting closer I was thinking they caught some kinda bobcat but it was them dang over grown rats and he was not backing down . But the Dogo , red cur, and pit stretched him out but he did leave all em leaking lol

We don't have javelinas over here in alabama what kind of climate do they have to have to live and be able to survive. Are all of them ruff on a dog or like hogs some bad and some don't have much grit to them. I'm interested in them. Are they illegal to trap catch are could I come to Texas and get a load and bring over here

Bo I'm originally from north Florida and never even heard of them till I got out here , they are all pretty rank and got the name of being dog killers for a reason . I'm currently in south west texas ( Laredo) and there like hogs out here ( lot of em). I know you are only allowed two per year limit and your not supposed to run dogs on them , we weren't trying for one but it happen I will look up the regs about trap and transport  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Get u a ham off the javelina cook it low and slow on a cedar board to kill the flavor for around 3 hrs at 350-400 * then take out and let cool when it cools down take the ham off the board and throw it to the javelina catchers and eat the board

I know I've gotten on them a couple times and they are mean sons of guns! Make a god awful racket like you say, they wil leave a bunch of holes all over your dogs and also tear off chunks of skin cause they will grab and shake like a bulldog too! Im just north of larado and they're plentyfull here too.

Bo are you sure you want those dog crippling machines. They r terrible on dogs back legs when they don't bust up. They r protected except for a small season and r illegal to hunt with dogs. If you want some I'm more than happy to grant you your wish but the fine fore dealing with them is high. I hate them with a passion.

My property is covered in those sob's. I have videos of them jumping in the air and biting a arrow in half after being shot. Just remember they are a game animal and can't be dogged or shot with a rimfire.

Being in south fl, I don't have to deal with them. But I've always heard it's best to steer clear of them. They say that one will take down a good pack of dogs.

Out here West of Midland Ive had several encounters, not on purpose just happens. I treat the dogs the same way as if it was livestock NO NO!
A havi is trash in my mind and I try to keep dogs away from them because like said they are some bad suckers and will put a hurtin on your pack. Usually they role around in packs over here and you have to be carefull!!

there was a pretty funny video floatin around online a few years ago. Some guys in s Texas had dogs turned out hunting and were at the trucks, next thing you know the dogs were haulin arse back to the truck and a whole wad (20+) of those little devils was right behind em chasin them dogs, the javi's ran the dogs all the way back to the bed of the truck, it was pretty funny BUT if those things woulda got ahold of one dog it woulda gone south REAL fast.

they are bad on a dog for sure...but the females are sure some excellent eating...female javalina in carne guisada is some mighty good eating...they are usually loaded down with fleas...

I haven't had a dog mess with one YET! But I've heard stories on them dog killers!
These javis can actually turn around and bite there arse unlike a hog!!

The "collared Peccary"......locally known as the Javelina. Game species in Texas. Two per year limit. Smell something awfull when your gutting/skinning them. Will definitely wreck a dog.
Don't have cutters/whetters......have LONG canines, male and female both.
That old movie "Home from the Hills" I think it was called. It had something in it with a dog or two and a "Peccary"
