My best dog looks like he has it, he is showing all the signs that I have read about.  He hasn't been on a hog in 8 days.  He is the only dog that is sick guess I have to just wait and keep an eye the rest of my pack.  This stuff is bad I've never seen anything like it hope I never have to again.

If he does have it do him a favor and put him out of his misery. I've never seen it first hand but from what I heard from someone who has its a terrible way to go

That was the plan, after my first post I did a lot of reading about. I decided that's what needed to happen, but when I went back to check on him he was already gone.  Sucks bad that's the second dog this year I'm down to 2 year old ybmc pups, they are started good but far from finished.

Dang y'all are having some hard luck out there in Texas with that mess. I know with the luck I have if a hog in alabama has it I will definetly catch it with all my best dogs at one time. Ever since I have been reading these post lately about it I have been leaving one of my best dogs out of the 2 best I have at home always so if I do get a hog that has it it won't wipe me out completely. Sorry to hear about you dog

if they start acting funny , and scratchin the hair off behind the ears for no apparent reason they've most likely got it . and no need to go to the vet .

burn or bleach the hell out of everything he ate and drank out of , and the area he was penned or chained.

you will know shortly if anything else is gonna come down with it .

over population in any species will bring about and concentrate and spread a life terminating illness .  it is time to thin the heard weather ya'll like it or not .  I would rather run one healthy animal a month , than run a bunch of sickly malnourished hogs every day .   it will only get worse . these droughts we have been in have pulled down and concentrated the hogs where ever there is water and feed thus allowing the virus to spread more rapidly than would in normal times . it's the same with deer , yotes , coons or whatever !!! it will only get worse before the spread stops .
